Adin Larissa Ellis ;;
It wasn't that Adin didn't love the library, it was just that it was the last place in the world she'd like to be at this very moment. She'd been working on schoolwork for approximately three hours, and apparently that was too much for her brain to handle today. Maybe it was more than anyone's brain could handle. Adin sat at one of the vast mahogany tables scattered throughout the library, surrounded by her various textbooks. She was currently trying to conquer muggle studies, which in her opinion, might quite possibly might be the most boring subject in the universe. Though of pure, Death Eater blood, Adin had no issue with muggles. They had their world and she had hers. Her only problem with them was this class. This boring, boring, bloody class.
Adin sighed and took a swig of pumpkin juice from the bottle sitting next to her. She was a good student, she really was, but sometimes she just wished she didn't care. It would certainly make life easier on her. If it wasn't for the stress from her parents, she probably wouldn't care. Hell, she still had no idea what she was going to do with herself after graduation. Maybe her father would let her take a year off to do some traveling. That would certainly be fun. Perhaps she could even find a cute guy to accompany her.
Adin shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts and return to her studying. But whatever little focus she'd had before completely vanished. She'd missed dinner and hadn't left the library since classes has ended for the day. 'There better be a good weekend ahead.' she thought to herself. Maybe someone would stir up some trouble or throw a party. Something. Anything. Sighing yet again, Adin let her head collapse onto her open textbook. Maybe she could just absorb the information. Or download it into her brain. 'Hmm, guess I picked up a vocabulary term after all.' What a relief.

----- Muggle: (noun) A non magical person -----
Charlotte was bored, she was finished with her school work, finished with writing letters for Mum and Dad, there was not Quidditch. She had nothing to do, how was this possible? Charlotte wondered around the castle for a while, but one can only wonder for so long. She had just spent time with Professor Stark, the Muggle Studies Professor. Charlotte loved Muggle Studies, it was such an easy for her. Growing up in France and America, Charlotte was used to the muggle life. She could work computers, cell phones and iPods. She knew how to use a microwave, and call someone on a telephone.
Charlotte straightened her purple sweater. Her purple sweater with tacky yellow sequin bananas on it. Charlotte loved fashion, but she was used to American fashion. At times, she felt out of place here. Charlotte wore heels on an almost daily occurrence. Today? Today she was wearing the sweater, black skinny jeans, and black caged suede platform sandals. Being only five foot one inch was a normal height for a Korean, but it was short. Charlotte hated being short, hence the daily heels.
As Charlotte walked through the library, she saw Adin, the Slytherin Chaser. She paused by her table, “Is that Muggle Studies? If you want, I could help you. I’m pretty good at that class.” Charlotte offered, smiling.

Adin heard the sound of footsteps, causing her to lift her head and scowl. If some first year had come to disturb her, they would certainly pay. She hated being disturbed while studying, hence why she frequented the library instead of the common room. No one came to party in the library, but the Slytherin dungeons were a different story. Instead of some quivering first year, Adin saw the Gryffindor seeker, Charlotte. Adin wasn't friends with her, but she didn't dislike the girl. Well, aside from the fact that she was the seeker on a rival team. But Adin had to respect that. She wouldn't even know the snitch was in the air during a game. Being a seeker required a whole different set of skills.
"Hey Charlotte," Adin greeted her. She peered at Charlotte's outfit, which seemed to consist of a purple sweater with bananas on the front, black skinnys, and some very high heels that Adin would likely break her ankle in. Adin didn't care much for the ensemble, but somehow it worked on Charlotte. She was pretty sure she'd heard that Charlotte had lived in America for a time or something, so her style was bound to be a bit different.
“Is that Muggle Studies? If you want, I could help you. I’m pretty good at that class.” Adin hesitated. She wasn't one to ask for help on assignments, not even from professors. But it was getting late and she didn't want to be exhausted for Quidditch practice tomorrow. And she so did loathe muggle studies. Swallowing the instinct to tell Charlotte no, Adin gave her a small smile. "That'd be great thanks," she said rolling her eyes. "I'm not very good at it, and I swear despite his hatred for it, my father will still flip if he hears that I flunked it." She reached over and gathered up some of the books she had strewn about and slid them into the leather satchel at her feet to give Charlotte some room at the table.

“Oh, I can understand parental pressure. At ASoM, we had several muggle classes, like muggle law and muggle medicine. I was horrid at law, which angered Father. My dad is a lawyer, he deals with a lot of muggle issues. When I almost failed the class, he went mental on me.” Charlotte rolled her eyes. All A’s, and one C minus. Definitely an overreaction, “He kept going on and on about how he’d pull me out of school.”
“So, what aren’t you understanding about this unit?” The current unit was on computers, and they were learning about downloaded. Charlotte had to give props to Professor Stark. It was hard to explain these kinds of things to someone. They would just look at you like you’re mental. After a while, you being to feel like you really are mental. Charlotte sat down at the table and opened the book to the correct chapter.

"ASoM? That's the wizarding school in America yes?" Adin tucked her black feather quill behind her ear. "I knew there was a reason I was born in Britain...I'd flunk in an instant if we had anymore muggle classes at Hogwarts!" She flashed Charlotte a grin. "So how'd you end up at Hogwarts? I'm assuming you didn't actually fail the law class right?" she raised an eyebrow. To her, laws were a bunch of crap whether they were of the muggle or wizard variety. She understood the purpose sure, but they were so easily broken, bent and bypassed. Just look at her father, a string pulled here, a string pulled there, and he was forgiven of his crimes and working for the ministry when he should be surrounded by dementors in Azkaban. Not that Adin was complaining. If things hadn't fallen into place, she wouldn't exist. And who would want to deprive the world of her existence?
"You mean besides the fact that somehow muggles have managed to build such crazy contraptions?" Adin joked when Charlotte asked her what she was having trouble with. "I don't really understand the Internet, or the point of this email thing. I'm fairly certain I understand instant messaging, and I admit that I can see how that would be more convenient than owls though I love my Quill to death and couldn't imagine allowing him to get all fat and lazy just because I'm eager for a response! Though these "social networks seem like a waste of time to me. Not to mention all the mind boggling advertisements they post all over them." Adin massaged her forehead. Hopefully Charlotte was good at explaining these things. She was being to consider giving up on the subject.

My dad applied for a transfer at his law firm, and it was approved. Mom and Dad said I could stay at ASoM if I wanted, but I like to be close to my family. Also, London is closer to France than New York is!” Charlotte twirled her long hair into a messy bun, and tied it in place. “My grandparents live in the French countryside, and I love to go visit them.”
“Well, email is very similar to instant messaging. But, email is a little more formal. It’s basically an online letter. You send it to someone, and they reply when they have time. It’s faster than owling, but slower than instant messaging.” Charlotte loved email, it was so handy. She could email family in Korea, it was easier with the time difference. She could email teachers with a question, or send funny cat pictures to her friends.
“Social network sites, like Facebook, Twitter or Youtube are huge! Facebook is a place to show off pictures, and share details of your life. Twitter is similar to Facebook, but more of a short blurp of information. Youtube is basically a giant collection of DIY videos, makeup tutorials and funny cat videos.” Charlotte loved Twitter, she loved twitpics, and hashtags. She missed these things, and she couldn’t wait until she had a chance to go home and catch up on her LOLcats.

Adin took note of the words "step-mom". She pondered asking what happened to Charlotte's mom, but she quickly told herself to stop being so nosy. "Sounds lovely!" Adin said when Charlotte mentioned her grandparents. Really the concept of a close family was quite unappealing to Adin, but to each their own.
As Charlotte began to explain the muggle studies terms, Adin reached in her bag and grabbed a black notebook with the Slytherin crest on the cover as well as the quill behind her ear and began to scribble down some notes. Her feminine cursive scrawl quickly covered the page with the muggle terms. 'I should probably go back and highlight these later...' she thought to herself, nibbling on her lip. "Youtube is basically a giant collection of DIY videos, makeup tutorials and funny cat videos.”. Adin glanced up at Charlotte, her long dark hair hanging down in her face. "Um, cat videos?" she asked uncertainly. She didn't think she'd heard Charlotte right.

Adin sat her quill down, a puzzled look taking over her pretty features. "Maybe it's because I'm not a cat fan, but I'm not sure I understand why muggles spend hours watching cats! Though that baby panda sounds cute." Adin wasn't a huge animal person, with the exception of her barn owl, Quill. They were furry and messy and as a child her mother had an evil Persian cat named Crystal who gave her lovely claw marks more than once. The scars had taken years to fade.
“Are there other things you are having trouble with? I’ve heard the video games unit can be really hard to understand.” Adin made a face at that. "Actually I messed around with a muggle boy over the summer," she admitted blushing slightly. Her father would KILL if he heard about that one. "He taught me all about video games. They made him quite boring. I swear, his arse never left the sofa." No, she would be good on video game information though she didn't understand the appeal of those either. She glanced at the green leather watch on her wrist. It was nearly 9 PM. She'd taken up at least an hour of Charlotte's time.
"I'm sorry to eat up so much of your evening Charlotte," she apologized with a small smile. "I'll have to make it up to you sometime. Maybe lunch in Hogsmeade one day?" It wasn't like her to make such offers, but Charlotte had saved her ass. Plus, she really liked the Gryffindor girl. Maybe they could even be friends. Adin didn't have many close friends, and she figured that as a seventh year it might be time to make some. "Say, you wouldn't happen to know of anything going on this weekend would you?" Adin was desperate for a party, or anything similar. The school year had just started, but with the exception of a few get togethers, the autumn had been quite uneventful. Even the teachers seemed to be having more fun than the students, though since they could legally drink, use magic, and step a toe out of line without parental units breathing down their necks, maybe that was to be expected. All the same, Adin was bored. "Preferably something with some handsome blokes yes?" She gave Charlotte an impish grin. She suspected that Charlotte knew how to have a good time, even if she was a muggle studies nerd.

“Ooh, a muggle boy? Do you live in a muggle area?” |
Most wizarding families lived in towns populated solely by wizards. Some students, Charlotte being one of them, lived in muggle towns. She lived downtown, close to the London Eye. “We should totally hang out over holiday sometime,” Charlotte cringed. Totally was such an American word, she was trying to say it less. “Oh, its quite alright! I had no plans for tonight, anyway. I finished all my homework earlier today. If I hadn’t run into you, I’d probably be snogging with James right now.” James and Charlotte had been fooling around for a few weeks now, and things were going according to plan. Well, if you didn’t count the Ravenclaw seventh year Charlotte shagged a few days ago. Charlotte didn’t count it, she was drunk. Everyone in the castle knew Charlotte was a slutty drunk. “I don’t know of anything going on this weekend,” Charlotte paused. She looked around for adults, there were none. Charlotte leaned in closer to Adin. Even though the pair was the only two in the area, she still whispered. “We could make our own plans. Personally, I wouldn’t say no to getting drunk this weekend. It’s been way too long. We could invite all the Quidditch boys.”[/div] tag: Adin!--- words: 213 --- outfit: here template by eliza @ shadowplay

Adin Larissa Ellis ;;
Adin shoved the remainder of her textbooks and notebooks into her messenger bag, taking care to twist the cap on her ink pot on tight. She'd managed to ruin a £200 purse with ink a few weeks ago. She hadn't been too happy though she was eager to go shopping and replace it with something better. "Oh no," she giggled when Charlotte asked her if she lived in a muggle town. "My father would have an issue or two with that. We have an estate in the country. I found the boy fishing on our property. He ended up with quite the catch!" She shot Charlotte a wink. ["Turns out he lived in the small village near my house, so I would visit him when I was out practice flying. It was short lived." She shrugged. Charles had been cute enough, but they came from very different worlds and she had to struggle to keep her magic a secret from him. In the end she slipped him a forgetting potion in his beer. He'd never remember that she existed, nor how to slip onto the Ellis family property. It was for the best. "But yes, we should definitely get together! Just send me an owl sometime. Merlin knows I wouldn't know what to do if you sent me an email!" she joked.
Adin's jaw dropped when Charlotte mentioned snogging James. "James Potter?" she asked, raising one delicate eyebrow. "You lucky witch! That boy is seriously attractive. Is it serious?" She suspected it wasn't, but she figured she'd ask. From what she'd heard, Charlotte was a lot like herself though she didn't know James well aside from who his parents were and that he was a chaser for Gryffindor.
"You read my mind!" Adin grinned when Charlotte mentioned getting some people together to drink. This was just what she needed. "How shall we get the invites out? Word of mouth or owl?". Owls were riskier, but then they knew for certain that everyone who should be invited was invited and there was plenty of food and drink to go around. No one liked someone demanding to know why they hadn't been invited to the latest bash, or a party with a few balloons and one can of beer. Granted, Adin didn't drink a ton but she liked to be around people who did. They were so happy and so much more willing to have a good time. "Oh, and where will we hold this?" It was such a pain to get around the professors and find a venue for parties, but in the end it added adrenaline. Everyone secretly loved trying not to be caught, thoug Adin suspected that the adults had an idea of what they were up to. How could they not? They had once been students too.

Charlotte giggled. “If you’d like, you could sleepover. You could live ‘the muggle life’ for thirty six hours. I bet Professor Stark would give you extra credit. Merlin know you’ll need it,” she teased. Charlotte laughed when she imagined Adin living the muggle life. She would show Adin trains, make her do dishes and cook. All the things wizarding families have House Elves for. Charlotte was almost certain Adin had never taken the train to Paris. “We could take a weekend, or overnight, trip to Paris. A ride on the Eurostar is only two and a half hours. I think to Paris it’s only £250 round trip.” “Well, James and I got drunk at a party once. We, uh, fooled around.” Charlotte laughed nervously, and continued. “We decided to keep fooling around. It’s seriously not serious. We’re only snog buddies,” Charlotte lied. It was working so far. “Let’s send letters to the people who should be invited, and word of mouth for everyone else.” Charlotte nodded, that would work. Adin Larissa Ellis ;;
"Sounds great!" Adin was quite unsure about spending time at Charlotte's house, which was obviously much more muggle friendly than her own, but Charlotte was the type of person who could make such things seem almost appealing. Plus, it wasn't like Adin could comfortably bring Charlotte to her home. She was far to muggle friendly to be around Adin's father for any length of time. Her family embarrassed her, and not in the typical oh-my-god-mum-just-pulled-out-the-baby-pictures way. She had long since accepted being the Death Eater's daughter, but she didn't want it on display that her father should likely be sealed away in Azkaban. Nor did she want people around her overbearing, uptight mother who could never accept Adin unless she was being perfect. And she didn't even want to begin to think about how Charlotte would react to her brother, Phillip. Actually, she'd probably love him. Everyone did, hence Adin's hatred of him. Living the muggle life with Charlotte would be a nice change, if only to defy her father. And who didn't love Paris?
"Seriously not serious hmm?" Adin grinned and wiggled her eyebrows playfully at Charlotte. She'd heard that many times over, things were never as simple as people planned for them to be. Somewhere along the line someone developed feelings, something went amiss. Hogwarts students had a habit of thinking things could be as easy a snog and a shag. So far Adin had been lucky. Not once had she been involved in a serious relationship. Oh plenty of guys had begged for her to be exclusive with them, but she'd never been the one left feeling alone and broken. She accepted that she would one day though. Such things were bound to happen when you played a game of hearts.
Adin shook her head slightly to clear it of such serious thoughts and get back to the party planning at hand. "So we'll send out owls to each Quidditch team member, and tell them it's fine to bring friends yes?". Adin scrawled down a reminder to herself. "I can take care of that...I'll use school owls just in case something were to get dropped." Hopefully all the good owls hadn't been sent out. There were some seriously old birds that needed were in serious need of retirement. Last time she'd used a school owl, it had taken a letter to her mum asking her to please send her more bras to the headmaster. That had been awkward. "The pitch is perfect!" Adin nodded approvingly. It was far enough away from the school to conceal the merriment, yet close enough to be accessed easily by party goers. "We could even bring our broomsticks and some balls and play some games for fun.". So long as only the sober flew, it would be a good night.

“Yes, seriously not serious. We like to get together and have a good time. No strings attached, good old fashion fun,” Charlotte laughed at Adin’s facial expression. She wasn’t sure if James had feelings, feelings other than ‘in the pants’ feelings, but Charlotte sure did. Not that she would ever tell James about these feelings. If she did, Charlotte could kiss her snogging partner away.
“That sounds like a plan. We’ll have to make sure we’ve got drinks. I believe I have a few bottles, but not enough for a whole party. Should we make it bring your own booze?” Charlotte had managed to sneak a few bottles, Jack, Rum, and Gin, from her parent’s liquor cabinet before the start of term. She was out of of Rum and Gin, and had only half of the bottle of Jack left. The start of term parties had been plentiful, and the drinks flowed freely. “Oh, night Quidditch sounds amazing. When’s the next full moon? We should plan a huge game of night Quidditch for that night!” Night Quidditch was the best kind, the cool night air with the moon illuminating the whole pitch. There was something about a full moon, it changed things.

"I'm sure you two have a good time indeed!" Adin teased. "Wait...you both play Quidditch! Does the rest of the team know that you've been doing a little extra practice?". Adin wondered how that would affect the Gryffindor team chemistry, and made mental note on Charlotte and James. She liked Charlotte sure, but rival teams always would be rival teams. It wasn't something she was going to blurt out at practice or anything though. Not unless Charlotte deserved it. "Ohhh never forget that little trick useful when seeing someone in the same house. Boys can't access our dorms, but we can get into their's!". Adin winked at Charlotte suggestively. That was a huge bonus of having a relationship (or fling in most cases) with someone in your own house. Adin had used it many times over the years, but in her seventh year, she was running out of Slytherin boys. It was unfortunate.
"Drinks are a must." Adin confirmed, nodding. "I have nothing...my trunks were jammed full of books and clothes with no room for my beloved contraband.". She made a face. The excess of clothes had been worth it, but she'd had to bring more textbooks than she desired. She loved to read sure, but when it the choice came between books and booze...who wouldn't choose the later? And she didn't even drink much! "We'll just tell people to bring what they've got or drink butter beer." Adin chuckled. "I'm sure someone has some connection that can supply more. You know, a cousin, older sibling...creepy old second uncle who lives in Hogsmeade.". She rolled her eyes and shook her head. When it came to getting desirable items into the castle, it was amazing what students could think of.
"Let me check!" Adin reached into her bag and paged through some papers. "Ahh, here we are.". She spread an astronomy chart out onto the table. It was charmed to show the motion of the moon and stars for the next few weeks. Adin loved it, and there were holes in the corner showing where it had been tacked to her ceiling over the summer. As the moon became full, Adin tapped the parchment with one perfect fingernail. "Saturday night.". She confirmed. "Any idea on the weather?". Nicer nights were getting harder and harder to come by now that autumn was in full spring. They would have to take advantage of any mild weather. Before too long the Hogwarts grounds would be covered in a thick blanket of snow and parties would be castle bound once again.
