Davin rarely wore his glasses. He didn't have perfect eyesight, but he could see without having to wear glasses. When he wore his glasses, it meant that he was concentrating really hard on something. Right now, he was in The Three Broomsticks, reading a book that he wasn't supposed to be reading. It was more of the location he was reading in rather than the book. After all, when one worked in the Department of Mysteries, there were certain rules to be followed. This was the rule Davin had broke the most since he'd joined them. He supposed the fact that he took all the precautions he could think of was not going to help him if his boss ever found out. For example, no one could actually see what he was reading if they were peeking over his shoulder. He'd cast a spell to make sure of that. Also, no one could touch the book without getting a few boils on their hands.
He was reading a very old book, with tiny script that made him want to tear his own eyes out. He had been at this for the better part of an hour before the Hogwarts students started streaming in. At least he was in a corner booth. But, because he was in a corner booth, he was also taking up space because he was alone. Davin was pretty sure he could pass for a seventh year. After all, it had only been a year or so since he left Hogwarts. He just needed not to read the book. Because no sane student would be reading a book during the weekend. But due to his boss requiring him to write a report, he needed to.
After another hour or so, Davin took off his glasses and placed them on the table. Noting that his Butterbeer mug was empty, the male flagged down a wait staff and ordered another glass. Together with some nibbles. He was hungry. He placed the book back into his bag, before pulling out another. This time, it was a story book about Sherlock Holmes. Within minutes of opening the book, Davin was engrossed in it.

It wasn't a rare thing for her, with the sweet tooth of hers to come around The Three Broomsticks in order to buy herself a cup of butterbeer before making a swing to honeydukes, even if it was just to look at the yummy deserts that were crafted there. Just the thought was enough to bring a smile of sorts to her cheeks, rubbing her hands together as she entered the large building she looked around briefly, taking in the flooding in Hogwarts students and the older people that perhaps spent most of their weekends here or there around Hogsmeade. Moving up to the front she ordered herself one of the infamous Butterbeers and taking a second look around the large building.
As Dominique gave a final glance around she found herself catching sight of someone she did in fact, know. Hesitating for a moment, Dominique decided to just go for it, something that she wouldn't normally do unless she felt close enough with someone, and in this case she did. Moving over to the booth she paused beside the table and peered down at the Sherlock Holmes book that he seemed to be so emersed in. "Always was one of the better books," Dominique commented with a nod and smile towards the other, "Certainly has your attention," of course she knew she could be interrupting the break that he'd managed to obtain, Dominique knew how was to want to take a break from people after a week of work.
But, as she reminded herself, he could have just gone back home if he really wanted to be away from a place that would definitely fill with people. Dominique had her fair share of long days since she'd really started this whole Hit-Witch thing, so she was sure whatever he'd been doing was something that could be considered rather tiresome as well. It was another reason why she hesitated a moment, biting the inside of her cheek before motioning towards the other side of the booth that he'd taken over. "Mind if I join?" she questioned, finding herself push hair from view as she looked to Davin.

It wasn't too long before he got interrupted. It had happened more times that Davin could count. It was either some girl who was too giggly or an ex school mate who Davin didn't care about. Of course, he didn't fly into a rage. That was just silly. Besides, if he did fly into a rage before he even saw who it was, he'd have offended the person who'd just interrupted his reading. He lifted his head when he heard her voice, wondering if he had heard wrongly. “Ah. Hello.” He greeted her, before he mentally grimaced at his words. “Hound of the Baskervilles.” He said, lifting the book. “One of my favourites.” Davin smiled at her. “So if you'd called my name from across the room, I doubt I would have heard you.”
He closed the book, wondering if he was supposed to tell her he was busy or that they really shouldn't be talking. But he wasn't all that busy that he couldn't take a break from talking to her. And well, he wanted to talk to her. Despite how they first got introduced and became the default friends on a group or double date for their two friends, Davin had began to like Dominique. It certainly wasn't because of the Veela charm she had. But that did help. She was a beautiful woman. And as he'd gotten to know her, Davin found himself wanting to be in her company.
It seemed that he didn't have to make the decision on whether to invite her to join him. Well, technically, he could refuse her. But Davin didn't want to. So he smiled at the blonde and gestured towards the seat opposite him. “Go ahead. I need to take a break anyway. I couldn't ask for someone more lovely to accompany me.” Davin said. At that point in time, his drink came, together with his snack. He paid for them, before taking a sip of his drink. “Visiting your family that are still in Hogwarts?” Davin asked. His younger siblings were both still in Hogwarts but he hadn't seen them here. Perhaps it would be for the best. Who knew what they would think?

At the motion, she smiled and plopped herself down into the booth and looked down to the book once more. "I take it you've read it more then once, then?" She found another smile creep to her features as she listened to him continue and lightly shook her head. "I almost didn't come over, you seemed so drawn into it that I thought it may be a pity to interrupt it." Although clearly she'd gone with the urge to walk over and start up this particular conversation, Dominique could only be happy that she hadn't been rushed away from the table. Over the time that she'd come to know Davin Dominique could honestly say she enjoyed his company, that he was easy to be around and actually had her smiling more than perhaps just any other person.
It was one of the odd realisations that Dominique had made only recently, something which she'd thought she may need to run by one of her confidents, but Dominique hadn't yet found the time. "Ahhh, well then I guess your in luck that I managed to come in time for your break, especially with that loveliness." biting the lower lip to keep the grin of sorts under control, Dominique leaned back against the booth and looked to him. "Mmm, more like I came here hoping to find an excuse not to do some work," she stated with a slow nod. "But I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I ran into one of the many family members of mine," It came with the territory of being a Weasley, with the number of aunts and uncles she had, it only made since that they were considered a brood.
"Mm...But I suppose I should ask what you're doing here?" quirking her head to the side slightly as she offered the question. Her attention drawn away briefly as the Butterbeer that she'd ordered herself was placed before her, offering her thanks she took a sip from the warm liquid. Oh yes, they definitely made the best ones here, that much was for sure. "Looking for any of your old, or younger buddies? Or simply find this the key sort of place to read?"

Davin nodded his head in response to her question. “I’ve lost count, actually.” Davin grinned briefly at her. He had a fondness for the character that was Sherlock Holmes. But he didn’t think now was the time to enlighten her on how fascinating he thought Sherlock Holmes was. “Oh, trust me. People interrupt me all the time. You, at least, did it well enough not to make me want to roll my eyes.” He told her. It seemed like him sitting here alone warranted some form of interruption.
“Lucky me.” Davin said, slipping his book back into his bag. “I would say no one could match your loveliness, but that might be taking it a bit too far.” The male said. Ah, work. Dominique was a Hit-witch. Davin had considered joining that department not too long ago. “We were nearly co-workers, you know?” He asked, mind wandering as to how that would have turned out. They might have been partners. Ha, that was something to ponder on when the woman in question wasn’t sitting in front of him. “I think I saw Lucy breaking some boy’s heart by breaking up with him.” Davin spoke. “But of course, I might have mistaken another ginger for one of your numerous family members.” Pushing the plate of potato snacks toward the middle of the table, Davin indicated that Dom should share it with him. If she wanted to. “Want some?” He asked, before answering her question. “Believe it or not, I had completely forgotten it was a Hogsmeade weekend. I usually come here in the morning after I’ve stocked up on stuff from Hogsmeade. Before visiting my parents. And trust me on this, it’s not the most ideal place to read when you have dozens of students talking.” Even now, the noise level was more than what Davin was used to, considering how he spent most of his time in a quiet room at work. “Do you come here often these days? Just asking in case the girl who shall remain nameless joins you and then we’d have to explain why we’re at the same place at the same time.” Davin asked, deprecatingly.

"Well, I certainly wouldn't want to get an eye roll from you." a joking manner to her voice, perhaps teasing, as she heard a comment like that come from his mouth. "Though, it doesn't surprise me when you've given yourself such a place to read, bet all the lovely lady waitresses here try and have all sorts of conversations with you." And really, it wouldn't be something that surprised her, even if that joking tone still lingered in her words.
Chuckling softly at the overkill of a comment, even if it was flattering Dominique wasn't one who often bought into them, even if she did like who it was coming from. Before she found herself raising a brow and looking the other over, "We were, hm? What made you go to another career choice?" Pausing a moment before speaking once more. A a sort of grin came to her features as she heard this, oh how amusing her cousins could be, "Ahhh, the ginger brood that is my family." Dominique said with a soft shake of the head, though the thought of Lucy dumping a boy wasn't all that surprising to Dominique, and she couldn't help but at least somewhat sorry for the supposedly broken up with boy. "She is quite the eye catcher when it comes to those boys," Dominique added, "Hopefully the boy will be able to find himself a new red headed beauty."
"Thats cool though, that you make time to go and see your family," Something which Dominique should probably do more of, but she'd often get the different pressures, namely from her mother, that she often tried to avoid. Dominique found herself biting the bottom of her lip at the subject of a certain female, "Well...I do like my sweets, and I certainly like my butterbeer, so whenever I get the chance I tend to try to come around." It was true, she often brought Sloper with her when it came to these sorts of get aways, where the two would do what little girl talk Dominique usually did, but she didn't want that risk of having the best friend run into the boyfriend's best friend, "Welllll...We could come up with some sort of coding, send out owls or something, or we could always have fun with it, perhaps make you a mustache to wear, have you grow out that nice brown hair of yours." Though in truth she thought that the appearance that he had already, was something that was rather appealing.

“The Finnigan eye roll. You don't want to be the recipient of that.” Davin said, playing along with her. The male gave a half hearted shrug. “Some days you just get sick of the place you live in and want a change of environment.” Davin wondered if he should be commenting on the lovely lady waitresses statement. “You're forgetting the male waiters too.” He whispered conspiratorially. Davin chuckled after that. “I make myself sound like a Casanova, don't I? Trust me, I'm far from that.” He thought he needed to assure her of that.
“Higher pay.” Davin said, without much hesitation. “And I have the excuse to not talk about my work. Or the person asking the questions would find the Ministry on their heels wanting to obliviate them.” Davin smiled. He was telling the truth. Besides those two reasons, Davin also got to figure out and run experiments on how some of the most mysterious things in the universe worked. Not running about trying to catch dark wizards and trying to find out why they did what they did. “Not to mention she's a Slytherin. Which surprised the heck out of everyone.” Davin said.
Davin nodded his head. “Half the time I go to make sure my father hasn't driven my mother crazy. He has nearly burnt the house down more times than I can count.” Davin told her. “Well, so my mother tells me.” He half grinned. He hadn't exactly gotten his father's fascination with fire and making things explode. Sure, his father tried to interest him in all that, but Davin had outgrown it by the time he reached Hogwarts. “Two very important things. So glad we have that in common. There are some people who hate Butterbeer. How can anyone hate Butterbeer?” Davin asked, shaking his head.
The Finnigan laughed at the suggestions Dom provided. “A mustache, huh.” Davin said, pulling out his wand. With a few swishes, Davin had a fairly impressive mustache and matching sideburns. “And you wanted long hair?” He enquired, before his hair grew at quick pace before stopping when it reached the top of his shoulders. “Do I need to add some scars or birthmarks?” Davin asked, winking at the blonde.

Leaning forward on the table she placed both elbows on and leaned into her hands. "Well, now I know who to watch out for. Who needs ladies when you've got all those guys," she whispered back in the same sort of conspiring tone. Sometimes she wondered why it was so easy to get along with him, but she'd give up after a while and just own up to the fact that Davin was a fun, easy going sort of guy. Plus, his looks never hurt anyone either. "Oh good, I always try to avoid those who are Casanova's."
Ugh. This didn't surprise her at all when she heard the first of his comments, "Higher pay and the lack of need to go into details is something I would love to do." Lord knew she'd been asked more than once what she was doing, how she was doing, and if she was doing alright on her own with money. It was something that rather tiring after the last hundred times. "Lucy is our little Slytherin." a sort of fond smile came over her features, "But she, at least as far as I know, doesn't live up to whatever stereotypes remains of Slytherins, just an ambitious girl."
She smiled softly as she heard this and nodded, the whole crazy thing reminded her of the conversation not too long ago she had with her cousin. So clearly the Weasley's were not the only ones with parents who tried to drive the other parent insane. "My Uncles always tell me about your dad, and his ability to blow things up or set them on fire." With a shake of her head Dominique took a sip from the butterbeer before her and leaned back against the booth. "Only the crazy and deprived could possibly go around hating something as good as Butterbeer." Oh yes, thats what Dominique thought and thats what she was going to stick to. Really, she had yet to meet someone who didn't at least like butterbeer a little bit, so when that day came that she would, she was sure there'd be some sort of lecture coming.
It was definitely a sight to see, that much Dominique had to admit as a burst of laughter came from her at the sight of the hair covered Davin before her. "Oh I don't think you'll need birth marks," she said letting herself reach over and gently tug at some of the shoulder length hair. "I could just tell her I'm hanging out with some weirdo from my training," Oh yeah. That would totally sound like something Dominique would do...Well, if she suddenly found herself actually wanting to hang around random strangers from her training. And she had a feeling Jackie would be able to see right through that little facade of hers.

Davin grinned when Dom replied. “Those guys are lethal.” He added. He tried not to let on that he wanted to just hold those hands of hers when she leaned forward. Or at least caress her face. But, that would be too creepy, considering that they weren't even on their first date. If they could even get on their first date, Davin would be surprised. “Then you have no need to avoid me then.” Besides their best friends forbidding them to see each other, that is.
He chuckled at her reply. “Not to mention, I get to stay in the security of the Ministry.” Maybe that was enough benefits of his job. “But, tons of research and well, other things I can't mention.” Davin added. “I'm sure once you rise up in the ranks, you'll get more pay. You know what pays good? Professional Quidditch. Should have gone into that. If I had the skills.” Davin shrugged. “Takes after her father then.” The Finnigan really didn't know much about the Weasleys. Or rather, he wasn't close to most of them. No wonder, since the majority were years younger than him. But he knew of them. No one in the Wizarding World didn't know of them.
“At least it came in useful during the battle.” Davin said. It was his father's proudest moment, he was sure. A pity he couldn't use that skill to make a living. Davin was quite sure his father would be happy doing that for his entire life. “I imagine there's a lot reminiscing when your family gets together.” It seemed like it would be a big affair, getting all the Weasleys and Potters together. Laughing softly, Davin nodded his head. “Won't disagree with you on that.”
He was glad he got a laugh out of Dominique. It was worth looking like a idiot in front of her. “No birthmarks? Alright. I was planning on a spectacular one that looks like a knight from a chess set, but alright.” He lifted an eyebrow when Dom told him what she would tell Jackie. “Yes, that would totally work. Because the reason why we were both dragged out on that first double date was because we hung out with loads of people.” He smiled wryly.

"Oh good, I wouldn't want to avoid you anyway." It was true, she'd done enough sneaking around and avoidance in her lifetime when it came to the majority of the boys that tried to make their way into her life. And besides the select few friends that she had, Dominique had never held a real interest in anyone in the opposite, or at least not in the way that a young woman typically would. So for her to actually want to be around someone as much as she felt herself wanting to with Davin, was something that concerned her, to say the least. Especially since she really shouldn't have thought that way about her best friend's, somewhat ex-boyfriend's best friend. "Ahhh, security, security. No worries, I won't ask anymore." and with that made a zipping motion over her lips with one of her hands.
"Ughh, I'm hoping just a few more months and I can move up a head of schedule and get that pay raise...Quidditch huh? I suppose that shouldn't be all that surprising." One of these days Dominique promised herself, she was going to get herself to a Quidditch Game. It'd been on her list of things to do for a while but was much too busy doing work and her whole friend thing to think about getting away to watch people beat others up on their broomsticks for balls. "Oh yeah? Did you play Quidditch during our school years? I didn't follow it nearly as well as I should have," Just another one of those sad facts about the lack of a social life that Dominique had during her school days. If it wasn't for Jackie dragging her from place to place, person to person, she was pretty sure that she would have forever been a closeted weirdo with her books and family.
"Mmm..." She couldn't say what he'd claimed was wrong, especially since before this whole awkward double date thing started spent the majority of her weekend either doing tricks with Pip or sitting on the couch with her sweats on and her hair a mess. Dominique was pretty sure that during those days she'd make Jackie cringe with the lack of sense of fashion, but hell, Dominique had never once claimed she had much in the way of a fashion sense. "Thats definitely true...I'm also not the best liar around, especially with Jackie," That girl had always been able to see through Dominique, even when she'd been trying hardest to make sure Jackie didn't. "I'd be so much easier if they weren't feuding."

Perhaps one day when TJ seemed in a good mood, he’d talk to him about Dominique. He was sure he could reason with TJ. With Jackie, he wasn’t too sure. While he was quite sure Jackie knew he existed, Davin had the feeling Jackie wouldn’t quite be bothered if he lived or died. Maybe that was a little too harsh. He thought Jackie was quite indifferent towards him and probably only cared because he was one of TJ’s friends. It made him smile when Dom said she wouldn’t want to avoid him. That was a step in a very good direction. He grinned when she did an action with her hands. “But if I do die, you should come to my funeral and mourn me.” Davin added.
“Well, I’m sure you’re a capable young lady and your bosses will see your abilities. It would help to catch a lot more bad guys, right?” Davin asked her, letting out a soft laugh. “Yes, Quidditch. The amount they make is quite outrageous.” The male shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. He nodded his head at Dom’s question. “I played as a Beater. Though looking at my size, you probably wouldn’t take me for one.” Underestimating him was about the worst thing the opposing team could have done. But of course, they learned that after the first few matches with him and TJ.
Davin got his appearance back to normal, keeping his wand. “I like to think I can fool TJ a little. Not always.” Davin agreed with her. “We should have practiced our lying skills before they started to fight!” He smiled at her. “That way we’ll be able to sneak around and lie to their faces. Not that I encourage lying to your friends. Nope.” The main point of that sentence was them sneaking about. “Yes, it would.” He looked at Dominique as he said that. On one hand, he did like her. He wanted to ask her out, get to know her more. On the other hand, he didn’t want to make things worse for her. Or him, for that matter. He imagined this was how it was like when parents of a couple hated each other. “Is there a way to bring them back together? Don’t tell TJ I said this, but he’s been moping.”

"Oh yes. I'll definitely be there, and mourn you." Of course, she would never wish for any sort of death, let alone an early one when it came to Davin. Especially not one where there were so many things, at least on her part, that she still wanted to work up the actual courage to admit it. Even if she was blunt about thoughts and feelings, it seemed with the whole thing going on with those closest to her it was inappropriate for her to even consider having friendship feelings let alone romantic feelings. It was just a mess, something which Dominique found herself having a hard time removing herself from.
Grinning she could feel is practically stretch from one ear to the other at the praise of sorts that Dominique was receiving. "Mmm, Jackie seems to think I'll do some ass kicking with this as well, outshine the other trainees." Of course, Dominique was a bit of a perfectionist when it came to her job, and so her striving to do everything she could to move to the top was something she planned to do. Even if it meant not making that many friends on the way to the top, because she wasn't about to slow down for anyone else. Laughing once more she shook her head, "Well, I guess if you're a professional anything you're probably going to be bringing home a very nice paycheck. Though I would imagine they land themselves in St. Mungos quite often." There was a thought that made the whole Quidditch profession rather unappealing to the blonde. Personally, she wouldn't want to become involved with someone who might end up killing themselves, well more so than she was at risk with her own job anyway.
Nodding a bit, lying to ones best friend, she thought at least it was nearly impossible to truly get away with lying. That was, if you were truly that close to your best friend, which was why she often stumbled over her words when it came to her lies with Jackie, though so far she'd managed to keep the meetings of both Davin and TJ secret from Jackie, and she'd hoped to keep it that way. "Oh definitely, if we had done all that practicing I think we would have been scott free with all these meetings and such." Dominique agreed and felt that smile creep back onto her face before she took another sip from the butterbeer. "So is Jackie! I mean, she won't admit it herself but I think she's dying to get back together with TJ." It was true, she'd had many a conversation with Jackie about TJ, so really Dominique thought it should be easy for the two to get back together. "You would think the two would stop being so stubborn and mopping and actually talk to each other."

He was probably too young to be thinking about death and funerals, but well, when did someone know? If he died tomorrow, would he be regretting not asking Dom out? Oh yes, Davin thought he most certainly would be regretting it. But he didn't think now was the right time to be asking her out. Or was it? “I'll return the favour, you know, if you died and I'm still alive. Although, your occupation seems more dangerous on the surface.” Davin pointed out. “Ah, Jackie. She has the right idea.” Davin smiled at her. Praising her best friend? Yeah, that might help him when he eventually asked her out. Or not. Davin wasn't too sure.
“Why isn't there a Professional Unspeakable?” Davin wondered out loud. Probably because there were enough of them already. That, and professionals were supposed to know what they were doing. While Davin respected the heck out of his other co-workers, there were some who he doubted made it into the department because of their talent. “Yeah. That's one part I'm not fond of. I've had enough of the Hospital Wing while I was back at Hogwarts.” Davin agreed with Domnique.
“Well, TJ's not going to yell at me because I met you accidentally. At least, I don't think so.” He grinned at Dom. “Best not to let Jackie know though. I get the feeling she might yell at you and then come and beat me up.” Davin leaned back in his seat, looking at the blonde. “Eh. They've had lots of fights, right? I mean, before this huge one. And TJ was always the one to go to her. So he's of the opinion that she should be the one doing it this time around.” Davin shrugged. “Perhaps we should... arrange a meeting for them. Say we'll meet them at a particular place, turn up late and hope they'll talk things out?” Davin chuckled once. “Of course, we'd have to lie afterwards when they ask if we did it on purpose.”

Another set og laughter ran from her mouth and the blonde lightly shook her head again, something that seemed to be happening quite a bit since she had decided to join the male at the table. "Oh good, I'm glad to hear that you will. But I hope that isn't until we've both gone grey and all wrinkly." Dominique stated with a decisive nod before grinning once more as she listened to Davin agreeing with what it was Jackie had mentioned. "Another good thing, I'm glad theres so much confidence placed between the two of you in me,"
Dominique grinned and shook her head, leaning on the table once more, with both her elbows, palms supporting her chin. "Well, if there is one I would think that those with that profession being exposed would defeat the purpose of being Unspeakable." A light sort of teasing returning to her voice before the subject of the hospital wing was brought up, and she couldn't help but wrinkle her nose slightly. "Ughh. I hated the hospital wing, hate doctors and all that nonsense. My mom always said as a kid I was so annoying, such a brat, when it came to those check ups." Dominique said wrinkling her nose. "So probably not the best hospital avoiding career part on my end, but hey I haven't had to go so far." Dominique said with a proud grin, before pausing and lightly knocking on the wooden table before them. No way was she about to jinx herself in that department. Nothing good would come from it and she'd already had enough bloody noses and cut lips when it came to the combat training that she didn't need anything that would end up sending her to one of her hated places.
"I must say, I really like this idea you've got going there, I mean Jackie keeps telling me I need to go out drinking with her. So I could get her out in that manner." Dominique said rubbed her chin for a moment. It certainly would work in their favor, or so she thought, if they could get the two of them together and blissfully happy again. It was simply the matter of getting the two in the same space without them knowing of the plan before it went a head and happened. "Mmm, we definitely would need to come up with a convincing them of that lie." Yep, she'd have to think of one and then rehearse it as many times as possible, whenever Jackie wasn't around the house. "But we should go with this place idea, not at all impossible if I do say so. Nice going." She offered with a grin as she leaned against the cushioned bench.

Davin nodded his head at her various statements, taking sips of his drink. He smiled to himself when she wrinkled her nose. He thought she looked rather cute when she did that. “Sounds like my sister.” Davin mentioned. “Although, all we have to do is to give her a lollipop and she'd stop crying.” He said. Davin let out a chuckle when Dominique knocked on the table. “Yes, not the most ideal occupation in terms of avoiding visits to the hospital, I would say. But hey, I'll give you a lollipop if you ever end up there.” Davin said, following her example and knocking on the table.
“The Leaky Cauldron? It is a popular place. I can arrange to meet TJ after his work there. You and I can be delayed by work, because well, I have a horrible boss and you need to stay back to complete a report that your Head of Department required immediately.” Davin nodded his head. “Who knows, you might really have to finish up a report on that day for your Head.” He grinned at her. They were planning to get their friends back together, not a bad thing if he thought on it. Of course, he might have other motives for wanting those two back together.
Still, there was no denying that when Jackie and TJ were together, they were quite a lovely couple. “So we'll practice this lie we have and then decide on a date?” Davin asked the blonde. “Although, I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen to us both if they found out about this charade.” Davin didn't think he possessed enough cunning and slyness to pull this whole thing off, and it was only a meet up. How did other people do it? He might admire them for it if he knew what they did.
