Normally, she was all for parties and gatherings, it was one of those things that McKenna was known for throughout her own house. However, why she had even come to such an event like this, McKenna still wasn't sure. It simply wasn't the sort of party that McKenna would want to spend her time at, not unless she had some sort of good that she could have taken in order to make this whole sort of thing go by faster and with more amusement. She was sure that the short, golden, sparkly dress she was wearing would have been one of those things that had given her vast amounts of amusement if McKenna had the right sort of things with her.
But, as it seemed rather obvious to her, she was heavily lacking in the department of drugs that McKenna often desired. So, instead of just mopping around she had decided that she would go a head and suck it up. Besides, it was worth a good laugh to see some of the things that the other girls and boys of her class tried to pull off for this stupid gathering, ball...gala. Whatever it was that people wanted to call it, and so McKenna played with the ends of the dress once more and sighed as she leaned back just enough so that she wouldn't end up falling or anything like that. "Come on, someone worth while gotta be around here." Grumbling under her breath she pushed a strand of lose hair from her face and pushed herself from her spot once more and moved down the aisle of flowers.
She guessed that this was meant for couples and people who thought that this would be a great place to just go a head and eat each others faces out for the night. Or to at least to briefly escape the sight of the chaperones that had moved between different people if they thought they were too close or dancing in a fashion that they had dubbed as rather unacceptable. Sighing McKenna kept herself from swearing and bit roughly down on the bottom of her lip, she was just about to turn and leave, deciding it was a waste of her valuble time before her eyes caught sight of a certain favorite brunette of hers. "Mace!" she called out and picked one of her fingers to make a come over sort of motion with.

Maycee was not into school related events. She didn't go to quidditch games, though she did enjoy the after parties involving her and the quidditch players. She also didn't attend parties, or dances, or whatever this was called. A gala? How original, Maycee thought. She hadn't cared about what it was she was wearing, though she did put a dress on and get ready with Mckenna. She was only going because of Mckenna, because there was bound to be an after party or something, even if it was just the two of them getting high. That actually kind of worked for her. She made a mental note to bring that up to her best friend later.
She had been wondering around the dance floor for a while, dancing with some random guys, and even some girls, before getting bored with the lot. It hadn't taken long. She didn't see anyone she wanted to hang out with in there, and was tempted to leave the entire gala, but decided against it. Because she couldn't smoke in the common room. So she made her way out to the gardens, ignoring all who tried to talk to her, and bumping into a couple slow dancing. "Keep dancing like that he's going to be quite happy," she laughed, walking past the two.
Maycee walked down the path of flowers. Romantic bullshit. It's not that Mace was a bitter, antiromance bitch, but she thought romance was a waste of time. She'd rather fuck a guy in the moonlight than be wooed with flowers and words in it. But that was just her. After seeing years of what her father did to her mother, and the years of abuse her father had done to her, she didn't want it. Her hand absentmindedly went up to touch her short pixie cut. She hated her father so much.
Maycee was distracted in her thoughts and only the sound of her name being called out by a familiar voice snapped her out of it. Mckenna was waving her over. She meant to step over the flowers, but ended up stepping on them. She smirked, walking over to her cousin. "Well, well. Look what we have here. A beautiful lady without a man, or without a smoke. I feel like that ought to be fixed. I've got the latter, we'll have to find two blokes later to fill the first one," she said, reaching into her handbag for her ever present pack of cigarettes.
