The ballroom was, without a doubt, one of Violetta's favourite places in Hogwarts. Then again, Hogwarts was pretty much an awesome place. If Violetta didn't wish to pursue a career in the Ministry like her parents, she knew she would want to come back to Hogwarts as a Professor. Seven years here didn't seem enough to enjoy all that the place had to offer. She certainly didn't know all the secrets of the castle, and she would very much like the chance to do so. But Violet had a feeling that no one knew all the secrets of Hogwarts, not even the longest serving Professor.
The brunette stood at the entrance of the empty ballroom, picturing how it was like if there were to be an actual ball right now. Students in their best outfits, tables filled with drinks and food, beautiful decorations on the walls and the best part of any ball, in her opinion, people dancing. Well, provided they did know how to dance. She recongised the fact that they were entitled to do whatever they want. But there were times Vi looked at other people dancing and felt the urge to tie strings to their limbs so that she could help coordinate their movements. Dancing was one of her many hobbies and Violetta thought it was only natural that she disliked people doing it wrongly.
But Violetta didn't actually dance in Hogwarts. There wasn't a dance club or anything and she certainly wasn't going to start dancing in the middle of the hallways. But, she was alone now, wasn't she? And the ballroom was just tempting her to do a twirl or two. Placing her bag and books down, Vi walked further into the room. As she imagined the music that accompanied her dance lessons, Violet soon started doing a twirl, before she started on a dance.

The world is ours, if you want it Charlotte was currently looking for her best friend, Violetta. She had looked in the library, the Great Hall, the common room, and several empty class rooms. Classes were finished for the day, and Charlotte had changed into black jeans, a blue tank top and a green shirt over the top. Everyday when she put the uniform on, Charlotte missed her old school. At ASoM, there were no uniforms. Charlotte missed the individualism her old school offered.
As Charlotte entered the sixth floor, she spotted the ballroom. Vi was a huge dance fan, Charlotte knew that much. Walking closer to the ballroom doors, she stopped. What if Vi wanted to be alone? Ignoring her thoughts, she walked into the room, her heels clicking loudly.
“Oi, mate. How goes it?” Charlotte said, in a mockingly bad accent. She smiled, standing a few feet away from Vi, with her hands on her hips. Charlotte liked to use an extreme British accent when she was with her close friends, hoping for laughs.

Violetta was by herself for a few minutes before she heard a voice. It was almost a mockery of the British accent and Vi knew exactly who it was. She turned around and ended her dance, before bowing. “You suck at that, you know?” Violetta asked, smiling at her. Charlotte knew that, of course. Vi had told her way too many times. “What's wrong with your own accent? It stands out in a sea of British, Irish and Scottish accents.”
She walked over to Charlotte, before enveloping her in a hug. “Care to dance?” She asked again, gesturing towards the empty ballroom. “Wonder if we'll be having a ball this year?” She wondered out loud. Then she'd have to find a date. That she wasn't looking forward to. “Who would be your date for a ball?” Violetta asked again. She was being awfully chatty today. She should at least let her friend reply her.
Violetta knew her reason for her good mood. It just took a conversation with a certain Professor and her entire mood would lift. It seemed Charlotte had been in a good mood lately as well. Which was the reason why Violetta asked her that particular question.

The world is ours, if you want it “All right there, poppit. Fancy a cup of tea?” Charlotte laughed as she hugged her best friend back. “Well, I like my accent! I’m used to sounding different from everyone else, but I do want to learn more British words. I’m sick of feeling lost when I’m listening to people just because I don’t know what a ‘jumper’ is.”
“Oh! A ball! I really hope we have one! Is this something we Head Girls and Prefects can being up to the heads of houses? What about a welcome back to school ball? Or a Halloween ball?” Charlotte got excited over the idea of a ball. At ASoM, they had school dances all the time. Granted, at Hogwarts, they would be more fancy, but they would still be fun. If there’s going to be ball, Mom and Dad will need to send me some dresses and other necessities. I’ll need my hair accessories, and some of the makeup I left at home, Charlotte thought to herself.
"I have to tell you something, something major. It’s about a boy. You CAN NOT tell anyone! You, and Rose Weasley are the only people who know,” Charlotte flicked her wand, and the doors to the ballroom closed. “James Potter and I have been fooling around. It started the night of the party, and we’ve been sneaking around since. We agreed that we were friends with benefits. Benefits such as snogging, shagging and built in dates. James would be my date for a ball,” she whispered. Charlotte knew the heavy doors were closed, but she was paranoid about someone overhearing.

The brunette chuckled when Charlotte continued on with her British phrases. “I would love a cup of tea. Scones to go with it? Scones and jam. Absolutely heavenly.” Vi said, trying to mimic the accent that Charlotte was using. She thought she didn’t succeed very well. “A jumper. You mean it’s not someone who jumps? I’ve got it wrong all these years?” Vi grinned at her. “You know I’ll explain the terms to you, right? You’ve just got to remember it all. Which might take some time. But I do think you’re getting the hang of it.” The girl said encouragingly. “It only took you years to do it.” She continued, squeezing her friend, letting her know she was just fooling about.
“So glad you want a ball.” Vi laughed softly. “At least I’ll have one supporter.” She thought for a moment, before shrugging. “No harm in letting our Head of House know. At least we tried telling them.” The Gryffindor combed her fingers through her hair, getting rid of tangles she thought were there. “Somehow, I don’t think we should throw a ball to welcome us back to school. A Halloween one might be cool. Beware of slutty outfits though.” Violetta warned. “Don’t let me caught you wearing nothing at all!” She teased.
“A boy?” Vi questioned, before the doors shut with a loud bang. Violetta returned her gaze to Charlotte. “Okay…” She said, a little apprehensively. When Charlotte whispered her secret to her, Violetta could only stare at her. “Wow.” She said, before nodding her head. “Who knew I would get a secret out of you just because I asked who your date to a ball would be?” Vi wondered out loud. “James Potter? He’s good looking. I approve of this. Well, in a ‘I’m happy for you, but if you get hurt I’ll go kick his behind’ kind of approval.” Vi said, smiling at Charlotte. “Those are good benefits, if you don’t want a relationship. Which I guess you don’t?” Vi asked, just to be sure.

Violetta couldn’t contain her laughter when Charlotte decided to continue on with the accent. “You know, some people take offense to you doing that. Can anyone do a bad American accent?” She asked out loud, wondering what would happen if she were to try to do one. Best not to. She was perfectly pleased with her own British accent, even if she sounded like one of those upper class aristocrats some times.
“Ooh, proms. We do not have that here. That is solely an American thing, I believe. Yes, the boys wear their dress robes, but well, they do look good in suits as well.” Violetta smiled at the thought getting Charlotte’s mother to help them with dresses. “I will not say no to new dresses.” She watched as Charlotte did a twirl, before stopping. Her face lit up at that thought. “Oh, yes. That’ll be fun. I can go around kissing boys and they won’t know it’s me. Or not. But you get the idea.” Vi laughed softly. She certainly wasn’t going to go around kissing random boys, even if she was hidden behind a mask.
Was Charlotte’s nudge a hint for her to reveal her own secret? Charlotte would have thought something was up. But it was nothing new. Violetta always came out of Care of Magical Creatures lessons a happier person. Always. Wesley was a good Professor and it helped that she had a crush on him. Also, he was engaged. So Vi remained silent and listened to Charlotte speak. “…he’s talented?” Violette repeated. “Oh.” She shook her head at her friend. “Okay. No further details needed!” She told the girl.
Nodding her head, Violetta pretended that she knew exactly what Charlotte was talking about. Well, she dated a bit but Vi didn’t think she’d consider anyone a boyfriend. She saw her parents’ relationship and thought that she would love to have that for herself as well. “If there’s a ball, I think I’ll be going alone…” Vi muttered, before Charlotte asked her a question. “I think you did. I don’t use that word often to know.” The brunette chuckled. “On a random note, rubbishy is an actual word. I think it’s my new favourite word.”

The world is ours, if you want it “Well, of course you can do a bad American accent. It’s called a Southern accent!” Charlotte said, trying to fake a real accent. Charlotte decided the extrema British accent was much more fun than a normal one.
“So, a masquerade Halloween ball? That’d be amazing! I say boys should wear suits. I always feel weird dancing with a boy in a dress,” Charlotte did her best to keep a straight face, but failed.
“What about you? Any men in your life? Other than your stud of a brother, Tony?” Charlotte had convinced herself that Vi was getting letters from a far away lover, and then she found out it was only her brother, Tony. Charlotte knew Vi’s brother, Logan. Logan was nice to look at, but his personality was horrible. She hadn’t heard much about Tony, only that he was much old. “Am I ever going to get to meet this brother of yours? He is so so pretty, and seems much nice than Logan!”
“Oh, come on! You are so hot, all the boys should be falling over themselves to take you to a dance!” Charlotte said, placing her hands on her hips. Violetta was one of Charlotte’s most gorgeous friends, there was no denying it. All the boys at Hogwarts must be absolutely mental if they don’t want her to their date, she thought to herself.

“Technically, it's not a dress.” Vi said, picturing the dress robes in her head. “They just look like dresses because of the long flowing sleeves. Plus, the men do wear pants underneath.” Violetta said, probably giving more information than Charlotte wanted to hear. There were some dress robes that looked rather lovely, but the more old fashioned one were... horrible. There was no other word for it. Lace and bright colours. She wondered how the ladies kept from laughing during their time.
“Yes.” Violetta said, before continuing. “There's my father. And there's Logan. But he's barely a man, so let's not count him.” Vi told Charlotte. She remembered how Charlotte thought she was getting love letters from someone when she was owling Tony. A long distance relationship? Yeah, that wasn't going to be working out anytime for her. She liked her men where she could see them. Even if they weren't available emotionally for her. She returned her attention to Charlotte, nodding her head. “Tony's going to be in Hogwarts soon. Duelling club. Sign up for it and you'll see the better example of the Shacklebolt male.”
It wasn't that Vi hated Logan. But Logan had a lot of growing up to do before he became someone that she was going to respect. How he became a prefect was also beyond her. Violetta laughed softly at Charlotte’s words. “Perhaps. Perhaps they've all lost their footing and are in a pile somewhere in the castle as they all gallop towards me to ask me on a date.” Violetta didn't think she was going to be getting in a relationship anytime this year. She certainly didn't have the time.

The world is ours, if you want it “Well, I still vote for an American Prom. Men in tuxedos, women in floor length gowns. Simply magical,” Charlotte said in her horrible accent. ASoM’s prom was a once in a life time event, only it happened each year. Every year there was a theme, last years was Casino de ASoM. A French casino, they had bewitched the students so everyone could speak and understand French. They had French food, French decorations and French playing cards. The night was c'est magnifique.
“Oh, Logan. A beautiful man, but a simply horrible person,” Charlotte said, shaking her head. The youngest Shacklebolt was nice to look out, there was no doubt about it. However, his personality made it hard to be in the same room for more than five minutes without wanting to kill him. “Ooo, Tony’s coming?! I’ll defiantly sign up for dueling!”
“Why don’t you ask someone out? Who do you fancy? I know there’s someone,” Charlotte trailed off suggestively. She knew there was someone, Vi was in too good of a mood sometimes. Charlotte just didn’t know who, and it drove her mental.

“I doubt we have any say in the sort of event the school plans.” Violetta muttered, listening to Charlotte go on about men in suits and women in gowns. She knew Charlotte’s former school had grand events. Charlotte certainly didn't stop talking about them. It sounded fun and something Vi didn't mind attending. That is, if it was once every year.
The brunette sighed. “I keep hoping one day I'll wake up and he would have changed a new leaf. I think unless I put him under a spell, he'd going to be like this for the foreseeable future.” Vi didn't feel like she needed to mention her disbelief at him becoming a Prefect. The day the owl arrived with their letters and two badges was something she wouldn't forget anytime soon.
Violetta laughed, shaking her head. “No, darling. I don't fancy anyone. I'm too busy with being Head Girl, studying for the NEWTS, making sure my brother doesn't destroy the Shacklebolt name to fancy someone.” Vi told Charlotte. Oh, she wanted to tell someone that she liked Wesley. But how to go about doing it? Certainly there were no sane people who thought that liking a Professor in a romantic way was normal.

The world is ours, if you want it “I’m sure he’ll grow up at some point? No one stays an immature fifteen year old boy forever.” She leaned down to slip her shoes back on. Charlotte was starving now, the clocks said it was dinner time and her stomach agreed. Charlotte had skipped lunch today, preferring to get her homework finished. Once she had her shoes on, she grabbed Violetta’s hand and twirled around.
“Oh, bull. Lily Evans managed to do all that, and fall in love with James Potter during her seventh year,” Charlotte rolled her eyes. Since she started at Hogwarts, Charlotte had learned much out the history here. She learned the school’s history, and the gossipy history. Charlotte was proud to say she could almost keep the Weasley family tree straight. Seeing as how many kids they have, that was no small feet. Being friends with the Potters and Weasley families made it easier. Anytime she had a question, they would answer it.
“Come on, lets go to dinner. I’m simply starving,” Charlotte grabbed Vi’s arm and started to pull her out of the ballroom.
