Marilyn stood at the entrance of the Great Hall with Ella, looking down at her shoes and black tights. Those were probably the only part of her outfit tonight that she'd picked out. Ella had designed her dress, a lovely purple colour, did her make up for her and selected the various accessories she had on her right now. Marilyn liked fashion, she liked looking at clothes in the magazines and on other people. She wouldn't say she had fashion sense. She knew how to pick out clothes that looked good on her; that was more than enough. But when it came to going out on a date, well, Lynnie didn't know the first thing about what was attractive looking to a boy.
Although, she would say that by the way Iggy had asked her out that he wasn't one for the conventional. Part of her thought she should be wearing something more out there to match his personality. But the blonde was not an adventurous girl. She'd probably would have stuck with an all black attire if Ella hadn't made this dress for her. Speaking of Iggy, Lynnie wondered how exactly tonight would turn out. When Hugo had asked Ella out, Lynnie had been beside her and felt an urge to hex the older male. The blonde was usually rather reserved and she did like Hugo as a friend. But that day Lynnie just wanted to hex his face off.
“How do you think tonight will turn out?” Lynnie asked Ella, looking at her friend. She was looking beautiful in a dress. Then again, Lynnie would say Ella looked beautiful in anything. “Wonder if Iggy will walk on his hands again...” Lynnie said, peering into the Great Hall. That was exactly what the older Ravenclaw had done when he asked her out. He juggled too. Truthfully, Marilyn would have been content to go alone and watch Ella dance and laugh with Hugo. But she didn't have the heart to reject Iggy.

Ella had fretted about the gala coming up since Hugo had asked her. She had only planned on going with Marilyn and having a good time goofing around and having fun with her best friend. And then Hugo asked her, all shy and nervous. She wasn't sure how to say no, and he was just so adorable in doing so, and he was a sixth year. How could she say no? She had gone into planning mode right away, and when Hugo's best friend Madigan asked Lynnie out Ella had forgotten all about her own gala outfit and started working on her best friends dress. She knew the girl wasn't trying to impress Iggy, but she still wanted the girl to stand out and look great. All the work had brought the two girls standing in the entrance of the great hall waiting for two older Ravenclaws to join them.
Ella had finished Lynnie's gorgeous purple dress with enough time to work on hers, which wasn't it's usual flashy self. She left the "out there" style for Marilyn. She knew Iggy was an out there kind of guy, and she had dressed Marilyn to match. Ella didn't think Hugo was as out there as his best friend, so she had made her dress a more subtle shade of purplish pink, but added a lot of sparkles to the middle. She watched Lynnie for most of the time. She looked nervous. She wasn't as outgoing as she was, and liked to keep to herself. She'd said yes to Iggy because she didn't know how to say no, and she was honestly a little thankful. She'd said yes to Hugo, and her best friend had said yes to his best friend. When things got awkward, because the inevitably would, they'd have their best friends to fall back on.
She smiled at her best friend. "Lynnie.... You know... It's gonna be great," she beamed, ever the optimist. She wondered for a moment how Elijah would react to seeing his little sister at the gala with a boy only a year younger than him, and Molly's cousin at that. But she pushed the thought out of her head. She knew Elijah probably wouldn't pay her much attention, just like she wouldn't pay him all that much attention, but she made a mental note to at least find him and say hi. "If nothing else that would be entertaining... I think Hugo is going to stand in a corner the entire time. He's not as outgoing as Iggy. At least you can have fun dancing with him. Save me a dance though!" she said, nudging her best friend with her elbow. She straightened up when she saw the two elder Ravenclaws finally approaching. "Ready for this?"

Madigan had not been looking forward to the Autumn Gala all that much. He definitely didn't really want to go with Marilyn Whitby, though she was sweet. He wanted to go with Angie, but after he and Keaton had gave Hugo crap about how he should go with Ella Macmillan, he decided to ask Ella's best friend Marilyn, if only so then they could spend the night feeling awkward together with their dates who probably didn't want to be there with them either. He kind of thought about blowing it off with Hugo and Keaton, but he was pretty sure Keaton was going with Roxanne, and he actually wanted to, so that was out. Besides, they'd already promised the girls they'd go.
So Iggy had spent the majority of his day sitting around the dormitory with Hugo. He wasn't going all out for the gala tonight, he wouldn't have even gone all out even if he was going with Angelina. He was wearing a suit over top of a light blue sweater and a black stocking cap. He was such a goofball when it came to dressing up. The real problem was debating on whether or not to bring his juggling balls. He had decided in the end that if things went awkward or boring, he'd have those to entertain if nothing else. So he had them shrunk down in his pockets, just in case. When it was time for the two guys to make their way down from the Ravenclaw tower, Iggy was in a very apathetic mood.
"C'mon Hugo. Let's get this night going, so we can get it over," he said, as they approached the entrance hall. The two girls were standing next to each other, and admittedly they did look great. Ella was wearing a cute little dress he was sure she'd made herself, and Marilyn was wearing a pretty purple dress with colors accenting it. He smiled as they arrived at where the two Hufflepuffs were standing. "I feel like I should have brought flowers," he said, then putting his finger up asking for a minute, pulled out his wand and conjured up a single red rose. "Here you go," he said, handing the flower to Marilyn. "Are we ready for tonight?"
