Silchas shifted uneasily in his tuxedo as he sat on the sidelines of the dance floor. Although he knew he looked ravishing in the outfit, he had no idea how to do any of the dances the people on the floor were doing. On top of that, he hadn't managed to find a date. If only I had had the nerve to ask that Ivanka. he thought to himself. But he didn't see her anywhere. Oh well. It's not like anything would have happened.Glancing around the dance floor again, he wished he simply had someone to talk to. Everyone was having so much fun and he felt rather lost and abandoned. I don't want to be thought of as the awkward kid here doing nothing. He wouldn't even mind if one of the other guys who were here stag walked up to him. Nope. I wouldn't mind a bit. Agh! What the hell am I thinking? Focus on the girls. Stop doing this. He swallowed nervously and continued scanning. Tag;; Erasmus

Erasmus whisked his way across the dancefloor, darting betwixt couples and loners, stopping to offer commentary or flash a smile as he passed amongst the throngs of people that he knew, sort-of-knew, and didn't-know-but-kind-of-wanted-to. The seventh year was decked out in a black tuxedo with silver tracery edging the sleeves and lapels in a mimicry of Celtic knotwork, the shade of metallic thread matching up to the vest and tie he wore beneath, his undershirt black rather than the customary white. He supposed he cut a fine figure, albeit his hair was still somewhat unruly. It made him feel far too feminine to use a charm for such a thing, thus he made do and just let it go about its ways.
You know, it wasn't like he was dressing up for anyone in particular anyway- so who gave a damn about the hair? Razz loved dances, he loved dating, and yet he hated having a date to dances. They were always so needy; feeling they merited all of his attention, demanding his hand in every single dance, pouting ridiculously if these supplications were not met. No, the boy supposed he much preferred to go by his lonesome to such events, allowing him the freedoms he required. To do what he wanted, when he wanted, with who he wanted- no consequences to be spoken of.
With a cursory glance of the immediate area of the hall, Erasmus spotted the next who, at least. Silchas Ruin seemed to be slouching about by himself at the edges of the room, occupying a mostly empty table. This, he decided, simply would not do. Someone as incredibly good looking- and Slytherin!- could not be left unattended as such. In fact, he considered it to be a crime. Deciding to do what he could for the apocryphal justice system that he adhered to, Razz sauntered over to the table. One hand snatched out for a chair as he arrived, twisting it around so that the boy could sit astride it as he fell into place. His arms crossed themselves atop the back, slightly scruffy chin resting atop them as he looked slightly upward so as to meet Silchas' eyes.
"Good evening, Mister Ruin. You look rather lonely, this evening; It's unacceptable behaviour from someone as fine as yourself." This last bit of commentary was punctuated with a wink. Erasmus was very open about who he was- a bit of a slut. It was true enough that he preferred women to men, but there were a few lucky boys out there who met all of the semi-ridiculous standards of his admiration for the male gender. Silchas just happened to be one of them. Word Count;; 446 Tags;; Silchas Notes;; I feel like this post is rambly. Forgive me; it's nearly 1 am and I'm running on 2 hours.

Humming softly along with the music, Silchas glanced up to see another Slytherin boy approaching. He was a seventh year, and Silchas believed his name to be Erasmus Forsyth. He had met Erasmus maybe once, and it was not a memorable conversation. Silchas sat up a bit straighter as Erasmus sat in the chair in a rather unconventional way. "Good evening, Mister Ruin. You look rather lonely, this evening; It's unacceptable behavior from someone as fine as yourself." It seemed to Silchas that Erasmus was flirting with him, especially following the wink. Don't be an idiot. Of course he isn't. The man was very attractive, aside from the chin scruff and the messy hair. All I would need to fix that would be a comb, a straightener... Silchas banished that thought as well. "I wouldn't be so lonely if I had someone to whare a dance with." he waved his arm around the floor, "But as you can see, I have not a one."Tags;;Erasmus

Razz quirked an eyebrow at the blonde in front of him, wondering if he was oblivious to the fact that he was being shamelessly flirted with, or trying to reject him gently by implying that there were no available dance partners. He'd always figured Silchas to be incredibly homosexual- the boy gave off such vibes even to Erasmus, who honestly wasn't sure they'd officially met aside from vague moments of meeting up during house activities. Maybe they'd spoken once, he couldn't say for sure. Maybe he was in denial; Yes, Erasmus decided that had to be it. He'd have to amend that while also rectifying the lonesome situation.
Arms unfolding to gesture fluidly at his own person, Erasmus met Silchas' eyes before his recommendation, "Well, I'm here, you're here; We're here. That's a pair. A pair is a couple, and a couple is just the right amount of people for a dance, I'd say. In fact, the best option for amending your dancefloor solitude is to go that route." He stood, holding out a hand and flashing his best 'nice-guy' smile, "Shall we?" Word Count;; I don't even want to think about how short that was. Silchas slowly frowned as he tried to wrap his brain around Erasmus's logic. It seemed the man was asking him to dance. No. That's ridiculous. Silchas thought back to when he was a child and adamantly stated he wanted to marry a man he had seen in a shop during one of the rare occasions his father had taken him out. Pellinore had smacked him so hard that blood flew across the room. He cringed remembering the memory.
He looked up again to see the seventh year holding out a hand. His face suddenly flushed, Silchas deliberated for a time. He really wanted to dance with this boy. Silchas had danced with girls before, but the thought of dancing with a male left his heart fluttering. His father would be so angry if he found out... You know what? I don't give a damn what my father thinks. Silchas slowly stood up and took the proffered appendage, his own hand trembling."Let's go." he stated with an unsure smile.

"Nervous? That's cute," Erasmus chuckled easily, leading the younger boy swiftly into the throng of moving bodies, fingers tightening against those of the other boy. He spun slightly, moving from his leading position as he chose a space relatively toward the middle of the crowded floor, the spin leaving him to be facing the other. Razz's hand slid against Silchas' until their palms met and he placed a hand on the blonde's waist. He tilted his head slightly to the side, as if in question of the action. He didn't really mind who was leading, but figured he'd give it a go- he had no idea if the other had been forced into dance lessons as an adolescent, and knew it was easier to be lead.
Without waiting for a clear response, Erasmus stepped backward, implying that Silchas should do the same, and then did the step in reverse on the other side; soon they had lapsed into a quickened version of the waltz. Razz had chosen an ill-suited tempo to drag another person onto the floor, finding it to be just the exact in-between that made it too slow for fast dancing, yet too fast for a proper slow dance or even befitting ballroom dancing. Still he had his efforts, praying the song would change. Word Count;; 222

Silchas allowed himselft to be led onto the dance floor, still blushing at the suggestive remark. This man was quite obviously coming on to him, and he was quite flattered, and little more that interested. He had always thought about boys but never actually considered being gay. He still wasn't quite ready to come to that conclusion. It's probably just a phase He felt shivers run down his spine as Erasasmus put his hand on Silchas's waist. He had never been led before. As they began to dance, he could sense his heart fluttering a little bit more, but the dance itself was not up to par with the experience. It was much too unsure about whether it was fast or slow. Since he was not quite ready for a slow dance yet, he stopped dancing and asked "Ready for a fast one?" Without waiting for a reply, he went to the band and requested an American musical tune with a good dancing beat. He smiled as "You can't stop the beat" started flowing around the room. He grabbed Razz's hands "Ready?" he asked. tags;;Erasmus

Razz stood patiently in the middle of the floor, waiting for Silchas to return. He was curious as to what the other boy considered to be good music, or at least good dancing music. He'd been pleasantly surprised at the fact that the boy wasn't stepping all over him amidst the unsure beat of the previous tune, and thus was rather interested in what kind of dancer he'd be to his own music. Of course, Erasmus' own taste in music left something to be desired on the dance floor [Raucous, obscene rap- no other kind would do], so the brunette supposed anything else would be better...or in the least, somewhat more school appropriate.
These thoughts were interrupted, as they usually tended to be, by the thing of which Erasmus had been thinking. As the music flooded the room, he noted that he vaguely recognized it as some sort of showtune; He was mildly disturbed that he knew this, but supposed it must've been learned from watching so many musicals with his mother [something he did not mind doing for the woman's sake, but would never freely admit to participating in]. Refraining from accusing Silchas being too-gay-to-function, he took his hands and allowed a smirk to slip across his features, "Oh, do lead the way." words;;221

Silchas grinned slightly at the snarky comment. The song may be a bit feminine but it was a good one for fast dancing. So he led the Slytherin to the left of the floor and danced until both were sweating and panting. As the song ended, Silchas glanced, wheezing slightly, as Erasmus. "You aren't too terrible, but I can see you haven't had much practice when it comes to fast dancing." he remarked loftily, raising his eyebrows.
A slower song began, and Silchas put his arm on Erasmus's shoulder, taking his other hand and conjoining it with the boy. "You get to lead again." he said. "Though this one seems a little romantic; I hope you don't mind that."

"Oh, 'not too terrible'? How sweet of you to say as much," Erasmus rolled his grey-violet eyes, an easy smirk sliding back onto his features as he tightened his grasp on Silchas' proffered appendage. His own free hand slid to the other's waist, drawing him imperceptibly closer as he spun the younger boy slightly, "I'll do my best to make sure my skills are up to par in the future."
Soon they were spinning again, reacting to a momentary perk in the song's tempo. Dark brows knit together on Razz's forehead as he responded to Silchas' remark upon romanticism, "Yes, Well. You seem to be oblivious, but I've been trying to romance you for, oh, maybe," The boy pulled their conjoined hands closer to his face for inspection of his watch as they ceased the spin and dropped back into normal steps, "The last fifteen minutes or so."
There was a slip in the music as the band changed tunes, the newest mildly faster- albeit not by much. Erasmus picked their pace up slightly but kept the same steps, not wanting to foul Silchas' footwork up. "The general consensus pf Slytherin House is that you're about as gay as springtime," the seventh year began, a little less than eloquently, "Although apparently, you've never said as much. If we're wrong in our perceptions, I apologize. You can kindly ask me to back the hell out of your personal space and quit pursuing your company, if you like. I won't be terribly offended." There were alot of aspects of Razz's personality that counted against him, but never let it be said that he had any desire to force romantic notions on those who did not want them. word count;;305

Silchas grinned at his retort. Obviously, he wouldn't let much get to him, which was good. Silchas was full of little jibes I'm such a bitch, I know he thought as Erasmus twirled him. At the end of the twirl, Silchas thought they seemed a little closer, so his breathing stuttered a bit.
When Erasmus replied to his romantic remark, Silchas stopped dead. People might make jokes about how evil us Slytherins are, but we are more gossipy than anything. He felt extremely angry that people were judging his sexuality behind his back, however unreasonable it might seem to be so angry; He is a very unreasonable person. As Razz continued to remark upon his own courting efforts, all anger faded to sheer nervous terror. "Well...um... I guess. I guess I am but I really don't think we should date because my dad will hamstring you after killing me." he stuttered in quick succession, turning away from Erasmus.

Razz tripped up slightly as Silchas abruptly ceased movement. He'd seen the anger flit across the blonde's features momentarily as he continued his annotations of his observance, but had continued all the same. He wasn't one to back out of his own remarks just because somebody was offended. The elder boy frowned slightly to himself as Silchas turned away from him, analyzing his response.
Placing a hand on Silchas' shoulder, Erasmus gave the boy a little spin so that they were once more facing. Tilting his head he carefully grasped once more at the other's hand, making an attempt at resuming the dance- standing still in the middle of a dancefloor drew too much attention, and Razz supposed the blonde didn't want his outing so publicized if he was acting this freaked-out about the subject.
"You guess? You don't know?" the seventh year inquired as he endevoured to give Silchas a lazy spin. "I'd say that is definitely the sort of thing one should figure out about themselves before venturing out upon the romantic scene. I offer my assistance in the matter if applicable," he quipped, pulling his dancing partner closer again, "And for that matter, I'd like to note that I don't see your father here."

Realizing he was making a bit of a scene, he allowed himself to be twirled and went along with the rest of the dance. It's not that he minded everyone knowing he was gay, he just didn't want it to get back to his family. He knew no one here knew his family, but safe was always better than sorry. And certainly much better than having your head cleaved in two by an enchanted battleaxe.
As Erasmus pulled him closer, Silchas took a deep breath. It's now or never. I've never dated anyone before. I might as well start. Making a show of regaining confidence, Silchas straightened and smirked. "I do not guess. I know. I misspoke. You must understand that it is a wee bit of a hard thing to out right admit." As he heard Razz's obviously flirty comment, Silchas batted his eyes. "I would absolutely adore assistance in the matter, thank you."

Erasmus raised an eyebrow, his default facial movement when he had no idea how to react to someone. And really, he wasn't sure of the proper response to Silchas' currently thoughtful face. In the background he noted as the song became slower, and pulled the blonde Slytherin slightly closer and dropped their waltzlike movements for something more in the notion of swaying uselessly like the other coupled-up students that were scattered across the floor.
"I would absolutely adore assistance in the matter, thank you."
A fling, mayhaps, Erasmus decided. He'd no idea if Silchas would consider it more or be expecting such from him- He supposed they'd hit that bump when they came to it. At present, however, it was best to see in which direction this was even headed, and Razz was rather skilled at turning things in exactly the way he wished them, "Well, I'd be delighted."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Razz leaned in- no difficult matter, they'd already been pressed close due to the proximity their slow sway demanded- and pressed those same lips to Silchas' own. He took no consideration of whether or not this may possibly be the blonde's first, and therefore didn't ask; but then, he probably wouldn't have anyway.
