Marilyn smiled to herself as she sat by the fireplace. She'd just completed all of her homework for the week. It was now time to relax and enjoy. If only she could think of what to do. Some days it seemed like she'd never get the time to do what she wanted. But now that she had the time, she didn't know what to do. It was quite annoying really. She supposed she could visit Wesley, ask him how the wedding planning was going. If she knew her brother, he would not have had anything to do with the planning. But she wouldn't know where to begin looking for him. The chances that he was out in the forbidden forest was quite high. Lynnie didn't want to explore the forest. Oh no, she didn't.
She took out her wand, summoning her knitting kit from her room. She was making everyone in her family some woolen hats for Christmas. Everyone in her family meant her mother, her brother and her two older sisters. She was going to make one for Lily and Gwen too, but right now she'd only just started on a maroon one for her brother. This wasn't considered relaxing to Lynnie, but it'd do to occupy her time. Time was precious and she didn't need to waste any of it. That was really why Lynnie never seemed to have free time. She liked to have something to do. She helped with the Professors whenever she could as well.
Her knitting kit landed on her lap. Lynnnie picked it up and continued with her work. She thought that Wesley would like this. As for Lily and Gwen? Lynnie had no idea what designs or colours to make for them both. They were her two best friends who were at odds with each other for whatever reason. Lynnie also thought she liked them both. She was trying to figure out if she did like girls or did she just like them both because they spent that much time together. But she did like like girls. For example, there was an older year sitting at another corner of the common room and Lynnie thought she was very pretty.

Gwenyth Dawlish was not necessarily the most social butterfly in the Hogwarts garden. To say the least. She just couldn't bring herself to get out there and talk to people. The only reason she even had one friend is because Marilyn had talked tl her first. It was on the train, when Lynnie had found her way into her compartment and sat next to her. That had scared her even more, because for her entire first year Gwen had barely talked to anyone, but here was this strange younger girl that just chatted away. She hadn't actually spoken much to her, but later she had been sorted into Hufflepuff, and it somehow was a "BAM, instafriendship" type thing.
Gwen sighed. She'd been lying in bed all day, trying to focus on some school work. But it wasn't working so well. She didn't want to be chained to her books. She wanted to hang out with Marilyn. It seemed like Lynnie was always busy, with other friends, and her schoolwork and whatever else that came before she did. She didn't mean to seem so bitter about it, but she just couldn't help it. She blamed Lily. Lily always had Lynnie's attention. They were in the same year, and Marilyn always seemed to have double classes with the Gryffindors. Gwen and Lily didn't really get a long too well, since they always seemed to be fighting for Lynnie's ultimate attention.
She closed her books. It was pointless. She kicked her yellow covers off of herself and pulled open the drapes surrounding her bed. Her dorm was empty. There had been no point to closing the curtains, but she liked her privacy. Though everyone else that slept in her dorm had learned to leave her be. She couldn't look any of them in the eye. She just didn't have the confidence. The last thing she needed was to be told how wrong she was, all the time. Not here. She was so good at avoiding her brother, but she couldn't help but wonder if he told his friends what a loser she was, that she wasn't good enough to even exist.
She pushed the thought out of her head, and pulled on a sweatshirt over her tshirt, and made her way to the common room. And who should be sitting in the common room? Lynnie. Gwen smiled, and made her way over to the fire place. "Evening, Lynnie dear," she said, taking a seat next to her best friend. "Whatcha makin'?"

Lynnie had learned that it wasn't unusual for girls to look at each other. As long as she came up with a good enough reason why she was staring. It was usually pretty simple. Her ear rings were pretty. Where did she get them? That dress looks marvelous. Where did she buy that from? Her braid is absolutely gorgeous. Did she do it herself? And if all that failed, if there was a boy beside her, Lynnie could always just say she was staring at the boy. But it didn't always go to that, thank goodness. There was no reason why anyone should suspect her of liking girls. Not that there was anything wrong with that, but people, Lynnie had learned, could pick on you for anything at all.
She looked up occasionally from her knitting, both to make sure she didn't end up crossed eyed and also to steal glances. But pretty soon, the girl left and Lynnie was left with nothing to do when she looked up. The blonde frowned slightly, before she threw all her attention into knitting. So much so that she didn't notice Gwen making her way towards her and got a little startled when Gwen greeted her. “You scared me.” She said, bringing her hand up to her heart. Oh yes, it was certainly beating faster. Scaring her was a good enough reason for her heart to beat faster. Oh no, it had nothing to do with the fact that Gwen was beside her. Not at all. She was looking lovely as always.
Lynnie smiled at her when she asked what she was doing. “Knitting a woolen hat for my brother. I'm thinking about protecting it with a spell of sorts, since he's always outdoors and it'd wear and tear easily. Can you think of any?” She asked Gwen. She didn't mention that Gwen would be getting one as well. It'd be a surprise. If she couldn't figure out that Lynnie was also making another one for her. “How was your day?” She asked, before frowning again as she realised she'd done something wrong on the hat.
