INTRODUCTION
Full name: Ebenezer Frederick “Fred” Flynn
Nickname(s): Frederick or Fred, sometimes Eb or Ebbie, though the latter are highly discouraged; he thinks his parents terribly cruel people to name a child Ebenezer, and infact does not disclose his first name unless expressly asked about it.
Age: Twenty Eight.
Gender: Male
House: Ravenclaw
Occuption: Ancient Runes Professor
APPEARANCE
Play By: Tom Hiddleston
Style: Fred is very particular about his clothing. He presses all of his shirts twice and makes sure that his pants have precise creases. If something does not fit perfectly he will charm it to do so, though he tries to find everything in the correct size without use of magic [Fred doesn’t use Magic for a lot of the things that others do, as he is often true to his muggleborn roots]. The man owns not even one T-shirt or a pair of jeans, His wardrobe consisting of button-down shirts, slacks, ties, and very well-shined shoes. You will not find much colour in that closet, as it were. The brightest things he owns are a few dark shaded shirts, in muted hues of blue, red, and green. Everything else tends to be a shade of Black or White, mostly falling into varying tones of grey. It’s not that he minds bright colours so much as he has no sense of taste but is pretty sure they’d make him look ridiculous. The darker, the safer.
Distinguishing Marks: Frederick has a scar across his right forearm where he was bit by a dog as a child, and a nearly unnoticeable knick on his left cheek where his ex-wife managed to target him with a plate; she had very good aim. The name ‘Alaizabel’ and the date ‘12.14.16’ are tattooed across the inside of his left wrist.
PERSONALITY
Likes: Books, Words in general, Learning New Languages, Some people,& the way Libraries smell.
Dislikes: His first name, Bullies, Anything that he can’t translate [it leaves him incredibly vexed], Divorce,& Vegetables.
Boggart: Never being able to see his child again.
Patronus: A Ram.
Strengths: Amiable; Though somewhat shy, Frederick is incredibly friendly and genuinely likes to get to know people. He always finds their stories, their lives, and their mannerisms to be a vast wealth of insight into the world around him. He can make you feel right at home instantly, when you’d normally be feeling out of place.
Weaknesses: Pushover; He’s prone to persuasion unless it’s something he feels incredibly strongly about. He may talk circles around you in order to get out of something, but if you continue to persist, he’ll most likely crumble. [This is especially effective amongst his students, as it were. Tricky little devils.]
Personality: Frederick is shy. He was shy as a child, and he’s still shy as an adult. He’s constantly unsure that what he’s saying will be the wrong thing, knowing that for all his love of words, he can’t always turn them the way he likes upon the people he’d like to [He never had much practice in the area as an adolescent. He was bookish, and bullied. Somewhere along the line he began to replace people with literature]. To be correct, it may be said that he is somewhat awkward. This can be endearing, if you take the time to get past the initial tones of social inelegance and truly get to know Frederick himself. He’s highly knowledgeable and quick witted, his only problem with jokes being that often nobody gets his references. He’ll do anything to help a friend, being the most compassionate and reliable person that ever there was.
Aside that, Fred is incredibly sad. He’s been divorced for two years and is still somewhat in love with his ex-wife, and finds it unbearable that she’s trying to extract him from the life of their daughter, Alaizabel. He does well in keeping such things to himself, not finding that shoving one’s emotional woes into the open is pleasant for nearly anyone involved. He laments his social incapability and mannerisms of speech [often archaic despite his rather young age; so much translation of old texts has taken a toll on his ability to speak like a normal human being, try as he might. He remedies this by speaking much less than the average person, leading others to believe him even quieter than he truly is]. Frederick bemoans his wizard’s blood at times, feeling that life would be easier if not for the fact of it. He regrets his own loneliness, wishing he could be a different, more social sort of person to fix such a trivial thing.

General History: Frederick was born and raised in Newport, Wales. His father was an accountant, and his mother a secretary at the local doctor’s office. His early childhood was highly uneventful, minus a few incidents of bullies being suddenly pelted with random nearby objects as they made attempts to bodily harm him- Honestly, he’d paid no attention at the time, rather distracted by the impending beat-down. It wasn’t until much later that he figured out such things happened at his own flaring emotions. This would have been perhaps more obvious, if not for the fact that Fred was a very well-balanced child emotionally, if not growing to be somewhat closed off in the area. His letter came upon the age of eleven, as all letters do. Initially, his parents thought the whole thing to be a hoax- after some convincing by way of demonstration and lengthy explanation, however, they managed to accept the fact and even embraced Frederick for what he was.
During his years at Hogwarts, Frederick became a little less introverted, feeling at-home amongst the varied, odd students of the school. He fell in love with Ancient Runes class, and discovered his own hidden talent [and subsequent infatuation with] translation. He devoured every book the library had on such things over the years, becoming quickly fluent in several dead languages- and several more of the modern-day just as a hobby. He never did manage to really develop any close friends, thought he was rarely on bad terms with anyone for anything that was actually his fault [Bullying will follow you no matter where it is you’ve gone, he soon realized].
Shortly after finishing his stint at Hogwarts, Fred managed to snag some inane job at the Ministry, mostly as a file-keeper who bounced from department to department. At age Nineteen, He ran into Katherine at the local book shop while on Holiday visiting his parents; they hit it off instantly. Their relationship became quite serious quite fast, and he soon quit his job at The Ministry. In fact, he swore off the Wizarding World in entirety, feeling as though he were always hiding something from her- yet feeling that she wouldn’t understand, due to the relatively new nature of their affections for eachother. In any event, Frederick soon proposed, and she accepted; they were wed, with their daughter following by the time he was twenty one. Together, the three of them lived a relatively peaceful, mundane, muggle way of life.
Until Alaizabel was hit by a car at age four.
The child bounced, as rubber, unscathed if not somewhat dizzy from the incident- Katherine had been there, had witnessed all this, was left stunned and hyperventilating and speechless- She was sure she’d just lost her child, and then even more shocked as she watched her toddle on, oblivious. Fred went swiftly into action, digging out his wand from a tucked-away place in the home and casting a memory charm on the driver. He meant to do it upon Katherine as well, but couldn’t bring himself to ‘vandalize’ the mind of someone so precious to him. Instead, he managed to calm the woman and sit her down, launching into a long tale of his life thus far, his abilities, and the truth of what he was- and what Alaizabel was thusly carrying within her blood.
After decimating a pretty good deal of the house in attemptes to nail Frederick with random household objects [most of which hit target], Katherine labeled him a monstrosity, filing for Divorce the very next day.
Thusly Frederick was expelled from his home as well as the life of his daughter. He has some visitation rights; Katherine didn’t want to fully rip him from her existence, she just wanted to remove his influence. He may see her on her birthday, on holidays, and on pre-arranged, supervised visits. His excuse, as she grows, is that he is away on business, out of the country, working as a translator. Katherine refuses to broach the subject of Alaizabel’s impending letter, but Fred feels that it will be quite the showdown; He’s hoping he can arrange it so that he may be the one to deliver it.
A few months after the divorce, Frederick resolved to once more become a part of the first place that ever made him feel truly at home- He applied for the position of Ancient Runes Professor at Hogwarts. He was accepted, and this is his third year teaching.
