[img src=" "] James took out his wand and waved it, casting rays of light a few feet in front of them. Considering he was going to use a secret passage to get back into the castle, it would be unwise to have a stronger Lumos spell. As always, James wondered if he should have some friends to share the Marauder's Map with. His granddad had three other Marauders to share it with, and his father of course had his two best friends, not to mention the entire Weasley brethren. Shoving the issue to the back of his mind, he ran his hand gently over Charlotte's shoulder, and squeezed it lightly. "Well then, a drink for the lady it is. Madam Pomfrey wouldn't mind whipping up one of her extremely delicious potions you know," he laughed. The elves would be glad to oblige him with drinks if he visited them. He shrugged when Rose asked him and Charlotte a question. "Speaking for myself Rose, I know you're far too nice to seriously get either of us into trouble. So, you can buzz around for as long as you want,"he said, looking at his cousin confidently. While love was usually a disaster, friends like these could never go wrong. It was then that James decided something on the spur of the moment. This is my last year at Hogwarts dammit. I might as well have some fun now, he resolved and then acted on it. "Charlotte, Rose, can you guys delay dinner by just a little bit and come with me to the common room? I have something to show both of you," he asked, giving Charlotte a winning look. He spotted the secret passage coming up ahead, and extinguished his wand. Though it was dark, he knew that patch of wall by heart. He could operate the mechanism in his sleep.

Charlotte’s heart skipped a beat when James’s gently squeezed her shoulder, and she smiled softly. “I don’t need any potions. All I need is a cup of tea, and some cozy socks. Some things are done better the muggle way,” Charlotte said. As they walked up the path way, she slipped her arm around James’s waist and curled into his warmth. The tank top, skirt and heels combination was cute inside the castle, but outside? Not as much, Charlotte was freezing her butt off.
“What are you going to show us? I’m going to assume it isn’t something dirty, since you want your cousin to see it too?” Charlotte looked up at James’s face, and he made a puppy dog face. Laughing, charlotte gave him a quick peck on the lips. “I’d love to see whatever you’re wanting to show us.”
Charlotte glared to James when he extinguished his, leaving the group in total darkness. Tags: James & Rose---Outfit: Here--- Notes: Sorry, bad writers block :D --- template by eliza @ shadowplay |

James and Charlotte talked a little, and Rose let them be. She was thinking about how she had a long day ahead tomorrow and if it would be better to have Quidditch practice on another day when she was less prone to yelling. Well, yelling less. “Then I shall gladly sit with you and talk your ears off.” Rose replied James. Of course, the brunette wasn't all that self absorbed until she couldn't let someone else talk. She couldn't help but notice that they weren't on her usual route back to the castle. Perhaps James knew a shortcut. Merlin knew the route she usually took was a long and winding path. Sure, it provided her with a nice view of the grounds of Hogwarts, but she didn't need it if she was heading back to the castle in a rush.
She looked to James when he spoke, but he was giving Charlotte a look. There was a reason why Rose couldn't stay around new couples for long. Even though she had agreed to stay with them for dinner, that didn't mean she had to devote her entire dinner time listening to them. She would be sitting next to other students as well. “Yes, it's not something dirty I hope. Really don't need to be part of that. If so, I might just take the long way back to the castle.” Rose said. She shook her head when their only light source disappeared. “Why do we have to be in darkness?” She asked, resisting the urge to take her own wand out and creating a bubble of light.

James ran his hand along the wall of the castle, feeling for the part of the wall that he would have to push in to open the tunnel. Once his hand passed over a spot that was engraved in the pattern of a small statue, James pushed in hard. The wall parted silently, making way for the path he and Charlotte had used to get here.
Once he stepped into the path, James ignited his wand again. He pouted slightly before turning to Charlotte and Rose. "The light went off so if anyone was looking from a castle window, they wouldn't see an orb of light seeming walk through a wall. Now it's safe. This passageway leads near the Great Hall." He could feel how cold Charlotte was through her clothes. He held her even closer, close enough to smell the scent in her hair. "You do realize you just need to cast a warming spell on yourself," he murmured, waving his wand tantalizingly.
"Anyway, I'm heartbroken about how both of you assume it's something dirty. I was about to share something that would change your life. But if you'd rather eat first..." James turned his face away slightly, grinning. Rose would probably explode with curiosity. Charlotte needs to get into some warm things too, probably. Maybe she won't mind a detour to the Gryffindor tower first James hoped. They had reached the exit by now, and James now tickled the back of the statue that was blocking the way. The statue giggled before moving slightly, with enough space for James to squeeze through.

If James wants to do something dirty in the common room, he’s alone on that one.” Charlotte tossed Rose a grin. James pulled Charlotte closer, and she smiled to herself.
“Well, some things are better done the muggle way,” Charlotte shrugged. Growing up with a muggle stepmother, she was used to doing everyday chores the muggle way. She knew how to fold clothes, cook, do dishes and everything else. She always found it amusing when her friends, who grow up in the wizard world, tried to do things the muggle way. It would take them thirty minutes to wash some dishes, when it would take a muggle only ten.
“I wanna see it!” Charlotte shot her hand up in the air, as if she was waiting to be called on during class. Any sense of hunger she had was overpowered by the promise of a secret. Tags: James & Rose---Outfit: Here--- Notes: Sorry, bad writers block :D --- template by eliza @ shadowplay |

Rose knew there had to be a good reason why they couldn't be in the light. When she spotted what James was doing in the darkness, she didn't have to hear his explanation to realise why. “I knew that.” She said, before thinking that it sounded too arrogant. “I mean, once I saw what you were doing, it clicked in my mind.” Rose said. She crossed her arms and walked behind those two, though she tried not to listen to whatever they were saying. It was not easy, since they were in such a close proximity.
Rose laughed softly when James spoke. “She started it?” Rose said, pointing at Charlotte. “That would change my life? Now this I do have to see. Just to make sure it lives up to your claim of changing my life.” Rose told James. “Food can wait, I'm sure. But I will demand a Butterbeer if it doesn't live up to my expectations.” The brunette nodded her head as she watched James leave the passageway.
She wouldn't say she was extremely inquisitive, but Rose liked to learn about new things. Useful things, at least. Why would she want to learn about stuff that had no use to her? Magic stuff though, magic was always interesting. It wasn't always useful, but who was to say she wouldn't need a spell that caused her head to turn into the shape of a square? Once she was out, Rose dusted herself and looked expectantly at James.

James checked around slightly. Usually, students just walked right past the little passageway before glancing inside, and today seemed to be no exception to the rule. I think things will go faster if I just run and bring the map here he decided and turned to face Rose and Charlotte. "Why don't you guys wait here? I'll run and bring over the m- item here. Charlotte, I'll bring you one of my sweaters too, don't worry," he said before dashing off to the tower.
Three minutes and two shortcuts later, James stood in front of his bed. He retrieved the old piece of parchment from his trunk. The map never ceased to remind of how surprised he had been when he first saw it. If it hadn't been Teddy Lupin holding it, James wouldn't even have given it the benefit of doubt. He took his time getting downstairs, knowing the girls would be getting impatient by now. Over his left shoulder, he had slung one of his Gryffindor sweaters. This is probably big enough to fall down to her knees smirked James. But when she had a cold, it was a good thing.
Once he reached the secret passageway again, he debated with two options. The two must already be impatient thanks to the waiting. Should he just hand them the blank parchment and see their reaction? Better not risk it he decided, and walked over to the two. He whipped out the parchment, touched it with his wand, and whispered,"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."" He immediately held out the map, so the girls could see the parchment begin to transform.
Sorry bout the delay

Rose was left standing there with Charlotte when James decided that it would be better if he left to get whatever it was he would be showing them. “So how is James treating you?” Rose asked, for the sake of asking her something. It was better than them standing in silence. James wasn't too bad a bloke, she supposed. He was a Potter. He had to have some of his father's traits. Add some of his mother into him and there should be a lovely mix in there. At least, she thought so.
James was taking his time getting back, Rose could tell. He was probably enjoying this. Way to get her expectations higher. But the brunette, upon seeing James and hearing the words he uttered, let out a yelp. “Bloody hell.” She said, sounding much like her father. “That's...” She grabbed the Marauders' Map out of James' hands, focused on it and not bothering about the other two Gryffindors. “Oh my Merlin.” She muttered, staring very intently at the map.
Of course she knew about the map. Her father liked to tell stories from his Hogwarts days. The Marauders Map was somewhat of a sacred thing to her. The magic that those four must have had to make it. Even for teenagers, that was a feat. A feat that Rose had not been able to emulate. “You had this for how long? And you didn't think to share it with me?!” Rose finally looked up and if she wasn't holding the map in her hand, she might have given James a smack.

The only thing I have to complain about is a certain someone,” she nudged Rose with her elbow, “interrupted us.” By this time, James had reappeared. He brought a sweater back, assuming Charlotte would wear it. What he didn’t know, was Charlotte would be caught dead wearing an oversized sweater with the outfit she had on. James was over a foot taller, she would positively drown in his clothes. Maybe, maybe, she would borrow a tshirt or a button down shirt.
“What is this? A map of Hogwarts?” Charlotte didn’t understand the significance of it, she never heard stories of it’s power. This was the first time she’d heard of it, or seen something like it. “Oh, my. This is amazing,” she said as she watched the map move.

“I apologise for being in your way.” Rose said, bowing down slightly. “But you really shouldn't be snogging in public if you didn't want to be caught.” The brunette told her, smiling briefly. She didn't kiss boys in public if other students were going to be spreading rumours about. There was a reason why her father had yet to tell her to stop seeing those Slytherin boys.
The Gryffindor looked at Charlotte, surprised, before remembering that Charlotte wasn't going to be privy to such information. But since James had shown both of them this, she thought she could explain this. “This is the Maraduers' Map, Charlotte.” Rose started. “It basically shows everyone in the castle.” She pointed to the spot where the three of them were. “See, that's us. This map was created by James' grandfather and his group of three friends, although, I don't see how Wormtail contributed to it since I keep hearing stories that he was a useless one. Wait, he could have been the one to explore the secret passageways, those that were too small.”
“Anyway, it is an awesome creation because they were like fifth or sixth years when they created it. Uncle Fred and George gave it to Uncle Harry in his third year so he could sneak out of Hogwarts. My Father was quite upset to discover his own brothers didn't tell him about it.” Rose said, stopping to take a breath. “And I have no idea how James got it. Stole it, right? From your father's table or something.” Rose looked at him. “Are we the first to know? Because I wouldn't be quite so mad if we were the first.” She told him, before returning to the map with glee.

James was too busy laughing mentally, to think beyond the priceless look on Rose's face. Uncle Ron was always telling them stories related to the Marauder's map, and both he and Rose had grown up idolizing the map. Charlotte of course was not quite as exposed, and her look mainly expressed shock and confusion. He let Rose fill Charlotte in on what the map was. It didn't take a genius to notice that Rose had a clenched fist, and one bout of laughter might induce her to use it.
"I did not!" said James, affronted that she would even suggest such a thing. "You missed one link in the chain. Dad gave it to Teddy when he was studying at Hogwarts, and Teddy gave it to me as soon as he finished Hogwarts." James ran a hand carefully over the piece of parchment that Rose now held. "And yes you people are the first I've told, ever. Not even Albus and Lily know. If that doesn't make you feel better Rose, I don't know what would," siad James, pouting hard.
But James couldn't hold the pout for long. "Anyways, I think we should upgrade this map. Between us, I think we can definitely do it. For one, we should study the spells on it first. Then repair the parchment, make it a little tougher, put a little more protective spells on it. I can do all that, it's part of what I learned as Auror training anyways. But then we'll have to try and add things to the map, maybe the moving staircases. Then we can try to color-code the dots to represent Houses and teach-," James broke off abruptly. It was the first time he had been so involved in something other than dueling. He blushed a little.
James blushed for the first time xD
