Thaddeus stood at the bottom of the Owlery, looking up at the various owls and wondered why he ever got a normal brown owl. He should have gotten a snowy white one, for those were fewer than the brown ones. Or he should have dyed Rook’s feathers bright neon pink. Try as he might, Thad could never get his owl to come to him unless he had a treat. Yelling out his name would just cause Thad to lose his voice. As it was, Thad had forgotten to bring anything with him this fine morning. And he wanted his owl to deliver a letter to his mother. “Rook, you idiot, come down now.” Thad muttered. His voice could barely be heard over the noises the other owls were made.
“Fine. I’ll use a school owl instead. See how you like that.” Thad said, whistling and holding out his hand. An owl started flying down, only to be hit in midflight by another owl. “Idiot.” Thaddeus muttered again. He was referring to the owl who knocked its fellow owl out of the way. “You know, if you’d come down when I called the previous ten times, you wouldn’t need to bang into someone else.” Thad told his owl, as it landed on his arm, hooting loudly. “Here, deliver this to my mother. Not my father. Mother.” Thad said, as if his owl couldn’t understand him. With another loud hoot, Rook took off.
“I need a new pet.” Thad said, looking at his owl fly off. But owls were much more useful than a cat or a toad. What did toads do but sit there and make strange noises? Cats might be more intelligent but Thad didn’t think owls were dumb either. “New owl, maybe.” The Slytherin said. He could give Rook away. Or just have two pet owls. Now that was a thought.

Post by ADIN LARISSA ELLIS on May 28, 2012 12:10:40 GMT -5
Adin Larissa Ellis ;; Adin was in a good mood. Her classes hadn't been stressful as of late-in fact, so far it had been a shockingly easy year for her. This pleased her, as it meant she got to spend less time studying and more time doing things she enjoyed. Which included parties, seeking trouble, and of course, seeking out some of Hogwarts' more desirable male figures.
The Slytherin girl made her way up the worn stone steps to the owlery, one of her favorite places in the castle despite it's sculptures of bird droppings coating every feasible surface. Adin loved owls, particularly her own owl, Quill, who she was on her way to visit now. Quill was a barn owl gifted to her by her parents when she received her letter inviting her to Hogwarts. Gifts were nothing new to Adin, from the time she was just a babe her parents had spoiled her rotten. But Quill was easily her favorite gift ever, and she would never forget ripping the ivory wrapping paper off the bronze domed cage and spotting the young owl inside. He'd just barely grown into his flight feathers, and still had bits of downy fluff clinging to him. Adin's mother, who hadn't seen the owl yet and was expecting a full fledged snowy for her young daughter, wanted to bring him back to Eeylops for an exchange but Adin protested, already in love with her new pet. And Quill grew up quite beautifully, in her opinion, and delivered letters much more quickly than her mother's cranky old snowy.
Adin paused at the entrance to the owlery, hearing a male voice within. She peered around the corner, seeing fellow Slytherin Thaddeus inside. Adin didn't know him too well, she wasn't very social and he was a year below her. He seemed to be having some problems with his owl, who had just taken out one of the school's ancient birds. He managed to get his letter sent off, and was muttering something to himself when Adin waltzed in, making her presence known. She whistled softly, and instantly a white-faced owl was circling down towards her from a perch high above. Quill landed softly on her shoulder, pinching the sleeve of her hoodie with his talons instead of her skin as taught. She reached up and tickled his breast feathers and he responded to her with soft hoots. "Having owl troubles Thaddeus?" she laughed, raising an eyebrow at the boy teasingly.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 450px; background-color: transparent;true] so here we are, together tonight
Astrid had been having a long day. She's spent her day finishing her essays in the Gryffindor common room, and then realized she had to send a letter home. With the autumn gala coming up she realized that she didn't have any formal wear in her trunk when she came here, and she knew Rita would not let her daughter go without something great to wear. She had the letter written, about how she and Louis were going as friends and she had nothing to wear.
The redhead had made her way up to the owlry. She hadn't realized how cold it was getting outside, and wished she had put a jacket on over her purple sweater, but thankful she was wearing a scarf and hat. What surprised her was that she was not the only one who had come to the owlry to send letters. Thad Warrington and Adin Ellis were already in there. She considered just coming back later, let them do their business, but she had already come out there and had her letter written, so she stepped in carefully, the heels on her boots clicking.
Astrid let out a low whistle, and her barn owl, Tylluan, came flying from the very top and landed on her arm. She really hoped she wouldn't be interrupting anything, and tried to go about her business fast. "Okay Ty, you have to take this to mum and dad, for me, okay?" |
she said, very sweetly to her owl. She loved Ty dearly, he'd been her owl for seven years and had always been loyal. She reached into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out a little bag of owl treats, and let her bird nibble them out of her hand. She smiled, petting his beak, and let him get ready for the long flight to her home. She looked towards the other two she shared the owlry with. "Sorry if I was interrupting anything," she said, a little shyly.[/div]

Thaddeus was quite ready to leave the Owlery when he heard a whistle. An owl flew down instantly to its owner and Thad sighed again. In addition to his personal life being a mess, his pet owl who he had for years and years didn't know how to behave like a proper owl. Maybe Rook needed to be around owls who knew how to behave. Then he could up his behaviour. It was frustrating for this overachiever to have such a pet, one that didn't even respond to his calls. “Owl troubles, girl troubles, troubles in general.” Thad replied solemnly, before breaking into a smile at Adin.
“I don't know why I keep my owl around when he can't function like a proper one.” The Slytherin said, telling the brunette more about Rook. “How do you train yours?” Thad asked. He didn't think he did anything wrong with training Rook. The blasted bird just didn't listen to him despite Thaddeus having him for nearly six years now. And then there were more footsteps. Well, wasn't this place becoming popular by the minute? He rolled his eyes and let out another sign when another owl flew down with a whistle. “I whistle and he just ignores me.” He muttered. Thad didn't really bother to see how the two girls would take to him whining about his owl. He really should just get a new one. But he was attached to the silly creature because his mother had got it for him as a gift.
Thaddues let out a snort when the Gryffindor girl said she hoped she wasn't interrupting anything. “You're not, don't worry. Adin here is a wonderful girl, I'm sure. But...” Thad paused. He was going to go into another rant and really, these two girls didn't need to know. “Never mind. Forget I said anything.” Surely they knew about him and Skylar Mclaggen. How they had a very public fight over a her kissing another boy while dating him. How they broke up and she stayed with the other boy. But what they didn't know was that she apologised and said she loved him. Really, of all things she could say.
