Personality:
Avery is a bright, immensely creative young witch. She is a talented artist and can often be found painting on the grounds on a sunny day. Since discovering the enchantment for making paintings move one day in the library back in fourth year, she has brought to life many swaying landscapes and occasional portraits. With two muggle parents, Avery is still largely interested in the muggle world, especially muggle art and literature. She has always been a bookworm and brings a stack of novels from home every year, which she occasionally lends to the residents of Ravencalw Tower. She has a distinct logical side which she applies vigorously to her magic, proving herself the top of her class in Charms and Transfiguration. Still, at the bottom of her heart she is a thorough romantic. She is a highly visual thinker and processes information through words and pictures better than through verbalization.
Avery is an introvert by nature and seldom has trouble entertaining herself, but she likes the comfort of being surrounded by her schoolmates at Hogwarts and her big family back home. She gets anxiety from solitude and, though she enjoys taking time to recharge on her own, any extended time in seclusion makes her shut down. To avoid this, Avery has a tendency to cling to a few close friends. Among friends, a childlike silliness comes out – she gets into terrible giggle fits - as well as a careful loyalty. Avery tends to be choosey with whom she allows close to her, but when she makes up her mind to trust someone, she trusts completely. Avery is generally polite to everyone and avoids conflict, though she maintains an air of cool superiority when affronted. In a duel, she centers more on defense and surprise attacks than a strong offense.
BIOGRAPHY
Father: Prof. James Quinn, a muggle literature professor.Avery’s parents weren’t the typical mother and father duo. Guinevere Warding came from a small family comprised of her, her parents and her twin sister, Genevieve. Guin and Gen, as they were known, were inseparable – even though Genevieve sometimes made strange things happen. The whole family was shocked and thrilled when a Hogwarts professor came to explain that Genevieve was a witch. Though she was happy for her twin, Guinevere missed her every night she was at Hogwarts. She would stay up late waiting for her sister’s owl to bring the letters they exchanged every week.
Mother: Guinevere Quinn, a published poet and painter
Siblings:
Ashton Quinn – 24, muggle musician
Brady Quinn – 21, muggle engineering major
Sophie Quinn – 19, muggle psychology major
Joyce Quinn – 7, exhibits magical signs
Pets:
3 dogs; a Golden Retriever named Mortimer, a Corgi named Buster, and a Samoyed named Patty
1 cat; a gray Scottish Fold named Charlie (at Hogwarts)
Other Important People:
Genevieve Warding- her aunt and Guinevere’s twin sister, a former Ravenclaw and a healer for St. Mungo’s.
General History:
Still, she came into her own as a writer and started taking painting classes. She met James Quinn when they were attending the University of Glasgow; him studying literature, her studying poetry and visual art. They were joined by their intellect and appreciation for beauty in language. Before they were married, Guinevere confessed about her sister to James, who was mystified and intrigued by the notion of the wizarding world. From university, the new couple traveled the world. Once they decided they were ready to have children – post-nuptials – they realized the possibility of having a magical son or daughter, and accepted that. They wouldn’t have admitted their relief at Ashton’s lack of magical blood. After Brady was born, they returned to Britain and settled into a home. Sophie came later , also non-magical. Avery, though, was another story.
Avery spent the first seven years of her life as the youngest sibling of four. The close family coddled the new addition - especially upon discovering her unique abilities. Avery's parents realized that she had inherited magical genetics when she was two, when she managed to get the oil paints on her mother’s easel to fingerpaint with from across the room. Guinevere and James were startled, but excited to have a witch as a daughter. Guin called Genevieve – she had personally installed a home phone in her flat despite Gen’s protests - right away with questions. Once she got her Hogwarts letter, it was Genevieve who took Avery to Diagon Alley to get her school books and later to Platform 9 and ¾ to board the train. The summer before she left, her little brother Joyce began exhibiting signs of magic when his clothes kept disappearing. Now whenever she comes home for the summer, she tells him all about Hogwarts and the year's coursework.
