Style: Zac dresses to kill. If that fails, he dresses to impress. He believes in making a good impression. Unless the situation calls for it, he won't be dressed sloppily with holes in his socks and shirt. He can usually be found in a shirt and jeans, though he does own a few suits that he may or may not have stolen.
Distinguishing Marks: a heart shaped birthmark on the back of his right shoulder.

Likes: Stripes, cheese, gold, stealing, cooking, bats, birdhouses, coffee, cats, older women, weekends.

At first glance, Zachariah appears to be quite the charming lad. And he can be, if he wants to. Zac knows the importance of people and how they can help him. He's fond of befriending enemies or people who hate him. If he can't do so, he'll befriend their friends. He's quite a believer in the saying "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." He likes to be in a social network of people where he's the center of it all. He's a crafty fellow. Knowing what to buy someone or flatter them when they're feeling down, Zac certainly enjoys toying with people and keeping them wrapped around his finger.
He's a perfectionist. If it's not perfect, it drives him nuts. He'll try to get it perfect. If he has no control over it, he'll just give it all up and start over. He's tenacious in that sense. He's definitely meticulous in his work and quite an intelligent person. Because of that, he can be somewhat critical of himself and others. Calm and collected? Yes, that's something he has in common with his brother. At least, when they are selling something. He certainly isn't calm and collected if he's fighting with someone. Zachariah has a high boiling point when it comes to strangers. But the closer one gets to Zac, the lower his boiling point it. Basically, if you screw up and you're family or a best friend, you're going to get yelled at.
Zac likes to think he's a resilient person. He hasn't actually seen a whole lot in his life or encountered too many difficulties, but he likes to think he'll be able to overcome them. Optimistic? No, not really. More of a cautiously realistic approach to life. Zac is someone who values money. He's also a tad lazy. He wishes one doesn't have to work so hard for it, and so far all he has to do is to rely on his charm and wit to sell to people.

General History:
Octavius Montague and Penelope Clearwater were not a couple that the Montague family approved of. But the couple liked each other and that was what mattered. Right? Yes, at least for the first few years of marriage between them. They had two sons, Malakai and Zachariah. Zac was the younger one but his older brother was the one who caused the mischief in the family. Zac preferred to watch his brother do the prank and get in trouble for it. Then he'd repeat the prank and see his brother get the punishment for it.
The brothers did not get along all the time, which was to be expected of two young boys. They screamed at each other and as they grew older, they started fighting physically. Their mother hated that and tried to stop, but their father let them be. Whatever his thinking was, Zac didn't know. What he did know was that he did like when his older brother gave him some grudging respect. Zac did the same. Anyone who could yell and fight with him was someone he liked to be with. Of course, it helped that Mal was his brother.
His childhood was fine, until his father went crazy. Not literally, but there were things that made Zac realise that his father was changing. While Mal lashed out, Zachariah kept out of his father's way. His mother didn't have the best of times, not with Mal acting out. So Zac became the better son in his parents' eyes. Truth was, Zac didn't mind joining his brother on his escapades. He joined a couple of them soon enough, as long as he thought there was no chance of them getting caught. Spraying paint on walls outside someone else's home? That was fun.
Hogwarts was fun too. He was sorted into Slytherin, like his older brother. Zac found that he could get good grades and while that was all good, he needed to put in effort. Some times he did it, if the Professor was nice to him and pretty. Otherwise, Zac did his homework at his own pace and paid attention when he felt like it. His brother looked after and out for him, which he didn't mind. Big brothers were supposed to do that, right? Right.
His third year introduced something else in his life. His brother started a business. Drugs. Wizarding drugs. Zac wasn't much of a user at that point, but he helped his brother. He certainly wasn't the brains behind the operation at that point in time. He helped Mal sell to the younger years, after all, he did have a pretty wide social circle even then. People were fascinating to him and Zachariah got to know as many of them as possible.
And then the inevitable happened. His father and Mal got into another argument over the summer and Mal left home. Zachariah didn't fancy being at home with only his parents for company. He was seldom at home during the day over the summers to come, but he always came back home at night, no matter how late it got. His brother got himself a new place in Hogsmeade and it was there he spent most of his time.
Hogwarts was still fun after years being in it, but only just so. His brother's business got bigger and they got richer. Zac kept his grades up, if only so no one would haul him into their office and demand why he was falling behind. He found that he didn't like authority and the power they had over him. His brother graduated a couple of years ago, leaving him stuck in Hogwarts with Dylan Dollinger, his brother's girlfriend. Now in his sixth year, Zac looks forward to making more connections outside of Hogwarts.
