One, Charlotte loved muggles. Two, Charlotte lived in the muggle world for most of her life. Three, Professor Stark was such an amazing teacher. If she had another professor, the class wouldn’t be nearly as wonderful. Charlotte was finished with dinner, and she had changed out of the uniform. After shimmying into a pair black skinny jeans, Charlotte grabbed a purple sweater. She loved this sweater, it had yellow sequins bananas on the front. After slipping into a pair of black heels, Charlotte took off for the second floor. She had a few points she wanted to talk with Professor Stark about. Charlotte knocked lightly on his classroom door, and opened the door. “Professor Stark? Do you have a few minutes to spare? I had some ideas I wanted to talk to you about.” Charlotte walked into the room, and paused in front of his desk. He was grading papers, and it looked like there were still several to go. “If this isn’t a good time, I can come back,” Charlotte offered. She had heard that Professor Stark and Professor Bressler were in a relationship, but he didn’t have that new relationship glow. He looked stress, bags under his eyes. “Is everything alright? Spencer didn't like marking essays. If the students thought they had it difficult, what he had was worse. They only had to write once. He had to read it dozens of times. There were some truly good essays, but a few made him want to tear his hair out. After placing a big fat F in red pen on a piece of parchment, Spencer looked up when someone knocked on the door. Ah, Charlotte. One of the better students. Well, one of the best, actually. She was easily his favourite student.

He smiled quickly at her when she said he wasn't looking so great. “And you must look stunning because you want to catch the eye of a lucky boy. Am I right, or am I right?” He asked, setting down his pen. He was just teasing her. The door was open, they were not doing anything crazy like kissing each other. “Take a seat, Miss Parker. What ideas can I help you with?” He asked. “And I highly doubt my personal life will be interesting to you.” He said, smiling again. Interesting? Heck yes it was interesting. The Hogwarts gossip mill would be running overtime if they knew the real nature of the relationship he had with Stephanie.

"I grew up in New York, I spent a lot of time in the city, I always look amazing. And besides, I've already got a boy," she teased back. Growing up in the city exposed Charlotte to fashion, and she developed a love for it early in life. She refused to let anything change that. Charlotte looked at his desk, he was grading essays. They had just finished a unit on the internet, and Charlotte's had a focus on Facebook. "Are you grading our essays? Have you grade mine yet?" She asked, excited. "One thing I never understood about wizards, is why don't they use Muggle things? Internet, cars, cell phones, iPods, and email. I mean, we don't even use pencils and pens! It was such a change coming here. In America, we are much more Muggle friendly. Our school is like a typical Muggle American high school, only with wizards and witches." Charlotte loved Hogwarts, but sometimes all she wanted to do was text her friends, and check Facebook. “Oh, you have a boy? Do tell.” Spencer told her. He didn’t know about other Professors, but Spencer thought that finding out more about his students’ personal life made classes much easier. For example, he’d know when to separate the lovebirds or when to tell them to stop snogging in the back of his class. If they were having a fight, Spencer would love to put them together to see how they got along. “Ah, New York. Prefer Los Angeles, myself.” Spencer said. He flipped the essay he was grading over so that Charlotte couldn’t see the mark he’d given to this particular student. “I am grading your essays. But I have yet to mark yours… you sure you handed it in?” Spencer asked.

Spencer laughed at Charlotte’s question. “Well, the wizarding community here is a little… shall we say, old fashioned? They like things to remain as they were and I think that’s fine. How often do you get to use a quill outside of Hogwarts anyway? Not often enough, right? Plus, they kinda build character.” Spence told her. Merlin knew he spent enough time figuring out how to use a quill. “Electricity and wifi and whatever Muggles use don’t work around magic. And in Hogwarts, there’s such a high concentration of magic.” Spence spoke. “Did I mention old fashioned?” He winked at her.

He’s in my house, but he’s a seventh year.”

[/b] Charlotte wondered how much of the relationship she should share. Spencer was a professor, her mentor. He was an adult, and held a position of authority over her. However, he was pretty cool. He was young, twenty eight at the most. He understood how teenagers worked, talked and thought. “I don’t know if you would call him my boyfriend. We kinda just get together, and fool around. Sometimes we song, sometimes we shag.” [/b] Charlotte blushed when she realized what she said. Laughing nervously, she shifted in her seat.

“Of course I turned it! What kind of student do you take me for?” [/b] Charlotte asked, narrowing her eyes. She was an amazing student. She turned her work in on time, and participated in class. She passed every test with flying colors, and helped other students.

“So, why don’t they break the school into two? ASoM was broken into two schools, the upper campus and the lower campus. That lowered the concentration of magic, and made electricity and other muggle things possible.”[/b] Even though ASoM was broken into two schools, each was the size of Hogwarts. Each school housed six grades, but each grade was much larger. [/div]

Spencer nodded his head. Nearly everyone knew the Potter name. Even if they didn't, Spencer was sure they were brought up to speed. Spencer certainly didn't know the name, since he was a Muggle born wizard. But his Hogwarts years soon changed that. He let her talk about the relationship, although he raised an eyebrow when she started talking about sex. “Ah yes. I think you can stop there now, Miss Parker.” Spencer said, smiling faintly at her.

“A good one?” He posed that as a question, rather than a statement. He was just teasing her, naturally. He knew she was a good student. One of his best, really. Then again, it wasn't too hard to excel in Muggle Studies if one put enough effort.

Spencer chuckled at Charlotte’s suggestion. “Whereabouts is your previous school, Miss Parker? I assume it's not a centuries old castle?” He shrugged. “Unfortunately, I'm not in a high enough position to initiate those changes, even if I wanted to. Also, I think the board of directors of Hogwarts are a bunch of old fogies. But shhh, don't let them know I said that.” Spencer had not met the board of directors. That was a job for the Headmaster and something Spence didn't think he was looking forward to do.

Professor Stark was very different from the teacher Charlotte had in the past. He joked with the students, teased them and more. He knew how to make learning fun, but he didn’t forget that he was a teacher. He had the perfect balance of friend and teacher, something most teachers did not. “Oh, please! You know, I know, the whole class knows I’m one of the top students! Why else would everyone ask me for tutoring?” Charlotte gasped, placing her hand over her heart. For the last few weeks, Charlotte had been fielding requests for Muggle Studies help. Apparently, being a prefect also meant tutoring younger students. “My old school was in a typical American high school. I don’t really know how to explain it to someone, but it was normal. It was a modern building. I’m not sure how modern building verses centuries old castles have an impact on electricity, but it sure made life easier.” Charlotte shrugged, as she looked at the things on his desk. There were some muggle knickknacks, and papers. “Professor, can I ask you a personal question?” The whole school was buzzing to know what was going on between the Muggle Studies professor and the Divination professor. It had appeared that they were dating, they ate together, held hands and a few students had caught them in compromising positions. Rather abruptly, they weren't scene together. Then, a few days later, the Divination professor announced her pregnancy. Spencer laughed when Charlotte protested to his question. He knew very well that she was one of the top students in her year, for his subject. He found it amusing she had to validate it to him. “Because they like your company?” Spencer presented that question to her.

“Oh, you're telling me.” Spencer said, nodding his head. “Electricity does make things easier, especially when you're a Muggle born. I remember coming into Hogwarts in my first year and being completely awestruck. Then I found out I couldn't use a phone or a laptop and I was completely bummed out.” Spencer told her. “But come on, Hogwarts has a certain charm to it that I bet your old school never had. Right?” Spencer asked, smiling at her.

When Charlotte said she wanted to ask him a personal question, Spencer couldn't say that he was flummoxed as to what it would be. They had a plan, they'd carried it out and then the fight happened. “Oh no. Professors may ask personal questions about students, but vice versa? Not happening.” Spencer told her, shaking his head. “Hypocrites, right?” The male said, smiling faintly at her. “I think I have a clue as to what you're going to ask. So ask away.”

You know, I’m pretty sure a lot of people don’t like me. I’m too American for them,” Charlotte said, rolling her eyes. Charlotte often times came off as brash and rude. She was American, after all. She was loud, and didn’t hesitate to speak her mind. “I was raised very heavily Muggle. When I went to ASoM, it wasn’t much different. It still had a very heavy Muggle influence. It wasn’t until I came here, to Hogwarts, that I realized how sheltered some of the Wizarding world is. I mean, there are teenagers who haven’t heard of facebook.” Charlotte exclaimed. The idea was so foreign to her, not having a facebook. All teenagers had facebook. Hell, Spencer probably had a facebook. “Well, I think the whole school is wondering what is going on between you and Professor Bresler. You two seemed to be together, but all the sudden you weren't? Then she announced she was having a baby?”

[/b]Charlotte asked slowly. She was walking on thin ice here, and didn’t want to step on his toes. “Forgive me if this is too personal. We’re just all incredibly nosey.”[/b]

“Well, their loss.” Spencer said. “They might be too British for you.” Spence smiled at her. “I do think it's better now.” He told Charlotte, with regards to her facebook comment. “I think the Wizarding World here has more Muggle borns than a few decades ago. That definitely helps in educating wizards and witches that were raised solely by magical parents. That, and taking Muggle Studies lessons.” Spencer pointed out. He wanted his subject to be the one that people choose because they were interested in it and not just because it was considered an easy pass. It was also an elective and really, how could he compete with things such as Care of Magical Creatures or Ancient Runes that could be far more interesting than learning about Muggles?


Spencer leaned back in his chair as Charlotte posed her question. How was he supposed to answer this question? Be friendly, but not too personal. That's what Spencer had always been practicing. That had to be a certain line between Professors and students after all. “Leave the adults be.” Spencer said, shaking his head. “That's what my parents would say when I asked them why they were fighting.” Spencer told her. “Well, let's just say a Professor's love life is no less difficult than a teenager's one. We fought, she got mad, things got complicated and yes, the baby is mine. We're going to talk it through. Gotta set a good example for the students, eh?”

If so, can we be friends?” Charlotte smiled, thinking of her own page. The account in question hadn’t be logged into in weeks, she shuddered to think the notifications. When Charlotte moved, her best friends told her that they were going to post on her wall every day until Charlotte had a holiday. That would be hundreds of notifications. “I’ve been thinking life after Hogwarts, and I’m interested in working with Muggles. I think the Office of Misinformation or the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee would be really interesting.” If there was one thing Charlotte was good at, it was bullshitting a lie. She wanted to work with Muggles, or other countries. “Well, if its any reassurance to you, I think you’ll be a great dad. You’re an amazing teacher, and teaching is almost similar to parenting? You’re responsible for teaching us, guiding us and our general well being,” Charlotte could imagine fighting with the mother of your unborn child. Even if you weren’t planning to have a baby, you still feel some sense of love for the child. “How long have you two been together? Spencer chuckled, feeling amused when Charlotte asked her question. “I do. And yes, you may add me as a friend.” He told the younger girl. Social media had exploded in the Muggle world since so many decades ago; it was hard not to have at least one social media account. “Ah, life after Hogwarts. I worked in the Ministry too, before joining Hogwarts. Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office. The things wizards and witches can get up to is quite amazing.” Spence told her.

“It depends on what sort of reasons you're better at.” He said. Working in those two offices basically meant coming up with lies so that the Muggles don't question the existence of magic. “Office of Misinformation deals with larger scare Muggle events, while MWEC deals with minor ones. I have heard the most ludicrous reasons being thought of from my ex colleagues there.”

Spence chuckled again. “Thanks. Some people might not agree with you though.” He said, thinking of Tristan. Spencer sure hoped he didn't meet the man again, especially after the fight he had with Steph. “The difference here is that you're all able to think for yourselves and we only have to deal with you for a couple of hours everyday. Well, on good days, that is. Parenting... that's a life long commitment.” Commitment. Was that what was keeping him from Steph?

Spence looked at Charlotte as she asked him another question. It took him a while to remember what he and Stephanie had agreed on. “You do know I'm horrible at remembering dates, right? Very good for students when I don't remember about the essay datelines because I didn't write them down, not so good when you forgot an anniversary. We got together last year.” Spencer told her. Last year, that was what they had decided, right?

Dad says I’m a ‘free spirt’, I think he’s just being nice. One thing I’d love, I don’t even know if its a job, but talking to muggle families. Families who have a magical child, and helping them through the transition. I’m sure families are overwhelmed when they first learn about magic,”

[/b] Charlotte had muggle born friends, and she’d heard horror stories of the stress it caused families. It wasn’t a horrible thing, but it was very different, and bound to cause stress.

“Still, you show the qualities a good parents has. As far as I know, you haven’t beaten a student, isn't that half the battle? Also, I think once the baby is born, you’ll know what to do.” [/b] Charlotte shrugged, what did she know? She wasn’t a mother or a teacher. Wasn’t the saying ‘women become mothers when they find out they’re pregnant and men become fathers when they hold their baby’?

“I’m assuming pregnant and hormonal girlfriend doesn’t like that,” [/b] Charlotte winced. The only pregnant woman she knew were pregnant aunts. One Christmas, Aunt Kristen freaked out at her husband for forgetting socks. It was awkward to listen to, and Aunt Kristen was fine twenty minutes later. Looking up at the clock, she noticed the time. She was planning on starting homework ten minutes ago. “I really must dash, I’ve got some work to finish,”[/b] Charlotte stood up.
