Spencer liked to think that he couldn't be surprised much anymore. Clearly, he couldn't be more wrong. There was one thing that surprised him the night he came back to Hogwarts. He'd met this very lovely brunette a month or so back. They had a one night stand and Spencer thought that was it. That was usually the case for most of his one night stands. Spence thought it had to do with the fact that they were usually Muggles. He spent most of his time at Hogwarts and in the Wizarding World. So he had little to no chance to meet those women again. Except he'd clearly slept with a witch this time around. For she had showed up at Hogwarts as the new Divination Professor.
Their first meeting had been awkward. Their first meeting alone, that is. Spencer was all smiles and friendly when she was first introduced to the staff before the dinner. He couldn't very well slap himself in the face and ask if he was dreaming or drunk. Spence made it a point not to get drunk during school term. It would set a very bad example for the students. They did like his tattoos, though they hadn't seen the one on his chest just yet. Now, Stephanie had. Stephanie had seen all of him. He had seen all of her. At that thought, Spencer found that he could not concentrate on marking the essays that his students had handed up.
“Good thing your classroom is at the lower levels of the castle and hers at way at the top.” He muttered to himself. There was no one else in the staff lounge. Because if there was, Spencer would have shut his mouth. He stared at an essay, noting the neat and tidy handwriting. Pity the words made no sense at all. “One point for effort. Another for cute handwriting.” The male spoke aloud. He had a habit of doing so whenever he was alone. “One point for saying cellphones are cool, although I don't think whoever will be marking your OWLS will appreciate that word.” Spencer continued, not aware that someone else had entered the room.

"Wow, points for cute handwritting. I wish school was this easy when I went," Stephanie walked up behind Spencer. She had some essays to grade, and was hoping to find a quiet work place. She was one of the youngest teachers, only twenty one years old, as of a few weeks ago. Most of the teachers, just like Spencer, were mid twenties or older. Stephanie felt like she needed to prove herself to her fellow staff. She did her best to plan fun and interesting lessons. Steph did her best to keep class interesting, and her students engaged in learning.
Steph sat down in the chair next to Spencer. This was the second or third time they had been alone. Every time before had been nothing but awkward. Steph and Spencer had a one night stand a few weeks before the start of term. It had been a dew weeks since the start, and Steph now knew she was carrying Spencer's child, and Steph had no clue how to tell him. She was only eight weeks along at this point, having only found out two weeks ago.
"So, Spence, how are classes going?" Steph smoothed her shirt, trying to cover her non-existent baby bump. Steph could recognize the changes in her body. She had no baby bump, but her breasts had already started to swell. Eight weeks in, and they were already a cup size bigger. She had moved from a B cup, to a C cup. That was something Spencer was sure to notice.

Spencer was just about to remark on another thing the student wrote when a voice sounded behind him. He turned immediately, but there was really no need to. He knew that voice. “If you had me as your Professor, maybe it would have been that easy.” The man pointed out. “But she's going to fail this essay anyway because it's, quite frankly, rubbish.” He continued, not wanting to dwell on the fact that if he was her Professor, he might not have been very professional. But he didn't know how she was like when she attended Hogwarts. When he was a seventh year, she was in her second. For all he knew, she only blossomed in the last few years.
She didn't ask to be seated down and Spencer didn't think she needed to ask. This was the staff lounge after all. And she was a Professor, despite how young she was. One of the youngest, he knew. He scribbled some remarks on the parchment with his pen (and yes, everyone in his class used pens instead of quills) while discreetly looking at her. Well, more like checking her out, because she was a gorgeous lady. There seemed to be something different about her, something Spencer couldn't put his finger on.
“Not too bad. It helps that no one likes Muggle Studies so I don't have to try too hard to meet anyone's expectations.” He said, poking fun at himself. He knew there were students who genuinely liked his subject and those who had been forced to take it because they needed to fill up their timetable. But mostly, Muggle Studies didn't have a good reputation. He had hoped to change that, and Spencer thought he was on his way to doing so. “You? I never had a knack for Divination. Never even considered taking it. What exactly do you teach the students?” He asked.

"If you had been my professor, that evening we shared would have been illegal," Steph whispered. There might of been a chance of Spencer being her teacher, if he had started teaching right after graduating. Steph had vague memories of Spencer during her school days. Not only were the two of them five years apart, but they were different houses.
Stephanie took a second to look Spencer over. When they met at the club eight weeks ago, Steph had already been tipsy. As the night went on, and into the early hours of the morning, Steph never had a chance to really look at Spencer. He had grown up since she saw him last. The last time Steph had seen him was when he was seventeen, and she twelve. Spencer was a little taller and much more muscular. Steph knew she’d changed, after all, it was over ten years ago. Even in the last eight weeks she had changed, her hair was a little longer, and fuller. Her skin was glowing. Even though there was no baby bump, her stomach felt hard, rock hard.
“I took Muggle Studies, and I really enjoyed it. I liked it so much, I ended up living in Muggle London for about a year.” Spencer already knew that, after all, they had met in Muggle London. “I’m about ninety nine percent positive that they only offer Divination when there’s a Seer to teach this class. It’s kind of pointless to take this class otherwise.”
“I use several methods to teach this, most of them are about observing. We observe the movement of planets and star, dreams, flames, palm reading, and tea leaves.” Steph knew a lot of teachers, and parents, thought Divination was a joke of a class. Steph thought the same thing, until she had her first prophecy, at the age of twelve.
“What are you teaching in Muggle Studies? Other than the fact that ‘cell phones are cool’?” Steph jumped up, ran to the wastepaper basket, and started to dry heave. words: 325 wearing here tag: Spencer! credit: LAVIEBOHEME @ caution 2.o notes: this is so exciting... STEPENCE! <3

“Not if you're of age.” Spencer replied, winking at her. “I might get in trouble because of the whole student Professor thing, but it wouldn't be illegal.” He added, grinning at her. “I might lose my job too, for not knowing the boundaries.” But rules were meant to be broken, weren't they? Or so the saying went. He listened to her talk about Muggle Studies. It seemed that she was one of those who did like the subject.
Lucky for me. Spencer thought, when she mentioned her year of living in Muggle London. London was a city that Spencer absolutely adored. He grew up in the city, though not one of the wealthier districts. “Oh yeah. You're a Seer. Wait, you're a Seer?!” Spencer asked, feigning his surprise. There had been rumours before she joined that the new Professor was one and Spencer had been expecting an old hag to show up. But then Stephanie appeared and Spence had his first shock of the year. “There are many fake Seers around. It's like of like those psychics of the Muggle world. Now, that would be an topic to interest my students.” Spencer said, jotting down the word on a spare piece of parchment he had.
“Maybe I should sit in one day when I have the time.” Spencer commented. He didn't have much interest in the subject, but as Stephanie was well aware, he did have a lot of interest in the person teaching it. “Don't you tell me cellphones are not cool.” He wagged his finger at her. “Well, I basically teach students how Muggles have coped without the use of Magic. Cellphones, airplanes, electricity. Technology, mainly. I think it's better now. Most students have some inkling of how Muggles get by.” The male said.
Stephanie suddenly felt unwell, he assumed, because she jumped out of her seat and ran towards the rubbish bin. Spencer followed her, rather concerned. “Are you alright?” He asked, placing a hand over her shoulder. Maybe she was getting a vision or something. He hadn't been around many Seers.

“Well, if you had started teaching at the age of twenty one, I would have been a sixth year at the time. Mighty scandalous, if you ask me.” Steph smilied shrugging her sweater off. She felt hot all the sudden, and only wearing a black tank top seemed to cool her off. “Besides, some rules were meant to be broken.”
“Yes, I’m a Seer. Sybill Trelawney was my great grandmother. You know what they say, some genes skip a generation. I’m a licensed Seer. Did you know it takes almost a year to get licensed? You have to prove you have the Sight on six different occasions, to three different people, over eight months. It’s kind of insane.” Steph had been the youngest Seer to be licensed in over twenty years, she was only sixteen when she was licensed.
“I’d love to have you sit in. Maybe I’ll come sit in your class sometimes, tell the class how it is, living in the Muggle world,” she smiled. Maybe after class we could do a little student Professor roleplaying, she thought to herself, blushing slightly. “However, I do love electricity. I’m so looking forward to Winter and Summer holidays. I’ll have a chance to get back to my flat, and use my cell.” Steph had gotten spoiled in the Muggle world, cell phones, computers, and the like. She couldn’t believe that most wizards wouldn't accept Muggle things.
In the midst of her heaving, Steph felt Spencer’s hand on her shoulder. Goose bumps appeared, feeling his skin on hers. No time like the present, Steph thought to herself. After a few moments, she looked up at Spencer. “I’ll be alright, in about seven months,” she paused. “I’m pregnant, and it’s yours. I’m over one hundred percent certain on that fact.”

“Yeah. That would have been scandalous. Provided you were as stunning when you were sixteen.” He winked, to let her know he wasn't being serious. He knew some female students were pretty, but considering near decade age gap between them, Spencer wasn't about to enter a relationship with them anytime soon. “Just what I was thinking.” He said, watching her slip her sweater off. He wasn't in love with her, Spencer knew. This was what his friends would call in lust.
But still, he found it adorable that she had to explain how she got to be a Seer. “I did not know that.” He replied, finding it quite fascinating. “That kind of defeats the whole purpose, doesn't it? Aren't visions supposed to be random and not scheduled? If you can't fulfill those conditions within eight months, you're not a licensed Seer?” That was strange to him. But Spencer did not profess to know anything about the politics or laws of the magical world.
“Ahhh, that is a brilliant idea. Yes, I shall bring this idea up to our boss. I'll let you know if it's possible.” Spencer told her, scribbling that idea down. It always pleased him when he had new things to bring into his lessons. “I do like electricity too. Just not the bill when it comes.” Spence spoke. “It's a pity technology can't work around magic.”
Spencer was relieved to hear her say she was okay. But the next few words were a little confusing to him. Seven months? Before he had time to process it, she had announced she was pregnant. “Huh?” He looked at Stephanie, hand still on her. He glanced at her stomach, before meeting her eyes. He couldn't even ask if she was sure, because she'd said she was certain. “Okay...” He said, trying to get his thoughts into order. “You're not joking, are you?” He asked. She didn't look like she was kidding. “Wow. Okay. I'm sorry, if I speak more than a a three syllable word, all you'd hear is gibberish.”
“What would you like me to do?” He asked, rather seriously.

“Well, a true Seer, on average, will have two or three visions a month. Some Seer, like myself, can almost pull a vision out of Sight. It takes great power, and focus. If you can’t do it in eight month, you have to start over.” It took a long to be licensed. Once you were licensed, you had a sense of power. People knew who you were, and didn’t want to get on your bad side. People, stupid and narrow minded people, thought Seers could change the future. That was wrong. Seers simply saw the future, and logged what they saw.
“Maybe we could see how you fair at reading tea leaves and palms.” Steph reached over, and grabbed Spencer’s hand. Flipped it over, she read, “Strong heart line, very common in musicians, and music lovers. If you want, sometime I’ll give you a full reading.” She dropped his hand. Palm reading wasn’t Steph’s strongest tool. She’d never had the desire to touch hundreds of dirty palms.
“Well, I’m planning on keeping the baby. I’d love it if you would be involved in it’s life.” Steph didn’t blame Spencer for being shocked, she had reacted the same way. This was life changing news, and needed to be processed. When Stephanie found out, she cried for hours. She didn’t know what to do, she was only twenty one years old. How could she raise a child? Steph didn’t know the first thing about children.
In fact, Steph hated most young children. The only child she’d met, and didn’t hate, was her godson. Being twenty one, Steph wasn’t ready to give up her party girl life to raise a baby. Until she knew what she was going to do, Steph had cut out anything unhealthy. She gave up all alcohol, junk food and more. She was eating healthy, and drinking more water than ever before.
“However, I don’t want to trap you into anything. If you don’t want to raise this baby with me, that’s okay. No one has to know it’s your baby.”

[Spencer was a Muggle born. That meant he had no clue about magic before his eleventh birthday. And although he was educated in Hogwarts, there were so many things that he didn't know. Like Seers and their vision. Oh, he was just an ordinary wizard. Stephanie here was a bloody Seer. “So... I can't crack that joke about you being able to see the future and all?” He grinned at her. “Well, I can say I don't envy you.” He commented. “Oh.” He muttered when Stephanie took his hand and started reading it. “A full reading. Sure, why not? You've got the music part right. Or maybe you've just seen the guitar in my office?” He smiled. He wasn't being skeptical. If he was, he'd never have believed magic existed.
Spencer didn't doubt Stephanie's words when she said she was keeping the baby. If she didn't want it, she would have not even told him. After all, what were the chances of a guy wanting to keep a baby after a one night stand? Very slim, he knew. Spencer was still processing the news and thought it might be best for him to sit down. He guided Stephanie back to the table, before plopping down onto a chair himself.
He had grown up in a good family. They weren't the richest, but he had a complete family. His parents stayed together when so many others didn't. Spencer had not thought about children. He'd lying if he said he did. But he wasn't going to ask Stephanie to get rid of it either. The baby was innocent in this. “I would not want you to raise the child all by yourself.” He started. “I'm willing to take responsibility for this.” Spencer said. “I'm going to be a cool dad.” He suddenly grinned at Stephanie. “Tattoos and all.”
“I guess we should talk about us and what sort of relationship we will be having in the future.” He told her. “And this will be the only time I will be asking to talk because it's mainly a girl thing. Right?” He asked her, trying to inject some humour into the situation.

“Do tattoos suddenly make you a cool parent? Good to know I’m on the right track,” Steph’s hand reached around to trace over the third eye tattoo on her neck. She’d gotten that tattoo at the age of nineteen. She’d always wanted more, but that would have to wait until after the baby. Settling into the chair, she placed her hands on her stomach. Steph knew there was no way she could feel the baby moving, but it was comforting to even have her hands there, as if she could protect her baby from all the evils of the world.
“Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m not really looking for a relationship out of this. I don’t think we need to be together, romantically, in order to raise this baby. I think we should live together, at least for the first few months, it might be a little easier. I don’t know about you, but I hate living alone.”
Steph had never lived by herself. After school, she moved back home with her mother. A few years later, after her mother’s passing, she moved to a flat with three other people. Steph hated being alone, all the time. She hated making dinner for one, and waiting to dirty enough clothes to justify doing a load. “I think we could be two friends, living together, and raising a baby together. I’ve always thought two parents is better than one. I only want what is best for the baby.”

There were some people who disliked tattoos. He'd met a couple of girlfriends' parents who did not like his tattoos. It had been difficult to win them over. He tried, but there was always the prejudice there. Just because he had tattoos, he might be involved in gangs or dark wizards or whatever negative things they could think of. As it so happened, Stephanie had some herself. Not as many as he did, though. “No idea if tattoos do make you a cool parent. But we can educate our child in that way.” He grinned at her. Their child. It was strange to think of it like that. He was going to be a father.
He looked at her as she placed her hands on her stomach. This was going to take some getting used to. Stephanie had been quite calm throughout this. She would have known for quite some time, right? “How long have you known you were pregnant?” He asked. It wouldn't have made a difference in his decision. But he hated to think how long she had to cope with this alone. Having a child was supposed to be a happy thing. But perhaps not so much if you had it with a man who you slept with once. “After the baby has been born? Yes, I think that's fine with me.” Spencer replied. Stephanie was being entirely reasonable. Spence didn't know what he was expecting. For her to demand him to marry her? It was not unheard off.
“I've been living alone for many years.” Spencer said. “I think you saw my place in the dark. What do you think of it?” He asked, giving her a half smile. “Friends living together.” He mused. There were so many more issues to be sorted out, but Spence supposed they could tackle one topic at a time. For now, he was glad to have an answer about their relationship. “You are making a lot of sense. I like this. Yes, we'll do that.” He frowned for a moment. “But you've just started here. And you're pregnant. Teaching is quite a stressful job. Not that you're not capable of handling stress. It's just... I guess I'm concerned.” He said, smiling a little sheepishly at her.

“I found out two weeks ago. I’m eight weeks pregnant, two months. My due date is April 17.” Steph had been lucky the last eight weeks, she wasn’t having to much morning sickness. The only time she felt sick was toward the evening, and if she woke up in the middle of the night. Whenever Steph woke up in the middle of the night, she felt dizzy and sick. “Since my due date is April 17, I can request a replacement for the rest of the year, and I’m sure I will be ready come September. By then, the baby will be almost seven months old.”
“What if we move in before the baby comes? I imagine it would be hard to move house with a newborn. We could take a few weekend trips to London, and find a new place?” Steph currently lived in a small, one bedroom, flat. It was not the best place to raise a baby. Spencer lived in a smilier flat, one bedroom, and not suited for a baby. Steph wanted to move in together as soon as they could. She didn’t want to be moving house when she was as big as a house. In her mind, they lived at school anyways. Moving in together right now was just easier.
“I do worry about the stress, but I think I can handle it. I can teach until April, and then I’ll take leave. Then I can be home with the baby, one hundred percent, until September.” Steph’s heart soared when she heard Spencer’s concern. He cared about her, or at least he cared about the baby. Whatever it was, Steph would take it. She was so happy he wanted to be part of It’s life.
“Do you have any thing to offer up? Any questions? I’m at a bit of an advantage here, I’ve had two weeks to think and research.”

Two weeks ago... He certainly wasn't thinking about babies two weeks ago. Where was he then? Right, at Hogwarts. He nodded his head at what she said. “April. That's a good month. End of winter, beginning of spring.” He said, having no clue why he just said that. He usually made more sense than that. Did it matter what month a baby was born in? But it could, in their case. Stephanie was a Professor. And their school year ended in May. It worked out rather nicely, as Stephanie had just pointed out.
“Ah. Yes. That's true.” Spencer was a little apprehensive about moving on. It was a lot for the man to take in. First a baby, then moving in? Nothing in his tone suggested he was afraid to do so. “Next month, then?” Spencer asked. It was the end of September now. They had nearly half a year before the baby arrived. But they both also really lived in Hogwarts, at least during the school term. But then again, it'd be better if Stephanie moved all her things before her tummy got bigger.
“After that we can hire a nanny. A magical one, so they don't get creeped out if the strange stuff happen. Muggles don't like things they can't explain through science. At least, in my experience.” Spence said. “If you can't handle it, let me know. I'll gladly kick some student's ass to have them make your life easier.” He glanced over at Stephanie again when she asked if he wanted to ask anything. “Maybe we should have sex again.” He said, grinning at her. “Just kidding. But will we ever have sex again?” Spence asked, before crossing his arms. “Nothing crosses my mind right now. I think I'm still processing all this new information. But Stephanie, I'm glad you told me. Rather than raising the baby all on your own and then letting me know years later. Or something like that.”

“Yeah, October sounds good to me. I’d like to get settled as soon as possible. I just feel anxious when I think about bring a baby home to my apartment. It is not child friendly, at all.” Steph was amazed that already she wanted to what was best for her child. In the last two weeks, Steph felt like she’d grown up. She was finally acting like an adult, like a teacher. Like a mom?
“I’ve never been a huge fan of nannies. But, we can cross that bridge when we get there." Steph did not to be the typical working mother, working all the time and never spending time with the baby. Steph wanted to be the best mum she could be, like her own mum. Steph’s mum had been an amazing mum. She was kind, gentle, loving, playful and knew how to lay down the law. She could remember going on walks through the park, baking cookies and thousands of other memories. Internally, she panicked. Her mother had passed away over a year ago, who was going to teach her how to be a mum? Steph’s thoughts raced through her hand, and she frowned slightly. How would she be a good mum when no one was here to teach her?
“We can certainly have sex again. According to a book I got, my hormones will start going crazy soon. I’ll have crazy mood swings, and be horny all the time.” Steph thought back to the book. Looking at Spencer and grinning, she said, “Besides, it’s not like I can get pregnant again. Might as well have some fun?”

“My apartment is far from child friendly.” Spencer said. It was a typical one bed room apartment, with a tiny kitchen and living room. There wasn't much space. He'd gotten it on his Ministry salary and that wasn't much to begin with. A Professor's salary was much higher, but Spencer had grown accustomed to his apartment and didn't feel like moving. So he kept the flat and visited it every few weekends when he wanted to get away from Hogwarts and all its students.
So Stephanie was not fond of nannies. Spencer had been brought up by one. He saw his parents as well, but most of the time he had other children for company. Not to mention his older brother who was the perfect son. Well, here was another example of how Spencer was not. As he sat there thinking about his family, he looked to the brunette. “Do you have anyone to inform? Parents, siblings?” He asked. They didn't know much about each other and Spencer thought they needed to change that. He didn't fancy living with a woman who he had a child with but knew nothing about.
He grinned when she said they could have sex again. That was a plus point. It might have taken all of his restraint to be in the same house as her and not do anything. “Horny all the time? Really?” He asked, chuckling a little. “I'll try to accommodate that. Along with all the mood swings and sickness.” Spence told her. “I like the way you think, Steph.” The man said, smiling at her. “We should get started soon.”
