"Huh. Describe myself. Let's see... I'm agreeable to most things. You know, just tell me nicely and I'll probably do it. I'm calm, mostly. Well, in dire situations I can be calm. I'm normally a very excitable person. Granted, I don't go around screaming my excitement at seeing a pretty girl but you know, I smirk. I smile, I grin. I laugh loudly, I punch my friends softly. I attempt to hug them if they let me. Normal sort of things. I'm a cheerful person. Too cheerful, most people say. They're probably right. But only because they don't see me when I'm upset. That doesn't happen often. But if I'm feeling down, I'll lock myself up and not come out. Or if I can't do that, I'll put on a smile and try to be happy. Life's too short to waste being sad.
I can be friendly. I like helping people. Probably talk their ears off too. I'm a noisy person, in that way. Some times people need to interrupt me or they're never going to get a word in between. Then again, not everything I say makes sense or is of relevance to the topic at hand. My mother says I can talk to a wall. I think she means I talk a lot of crap. I hate silences, which is why I ramble a lot. I'm a responsible boy. I do things that I said I would do. Mind you, I imply that I would do something but if you don't actually hear me say yes, I didn't agree to do it. This is me giving you fair warning, okay?
Now, I'm cynical. Too young to be a cynic? Probably. But I am naturally distrustful of human sincerity and integrity. Yes. I don't assume everyone's out to get me but I've seen enough so called friends in my short years here at Hogwarts. Can't blame me for being cynical.
Last thing you should know about me. I'm bored easily. I'm a restless person. I need something to do. Whether it be bothering my friends or attempting a prank on younger years. Just give me something to do. Unless you're giving me a detention. If that's the case, spare me. Cleaning trophies without magic or scrubbing the floors is not my idea of something to do."

"Hello there! My name's Linus Frank Longbottom. I was born on 14 February 2006. Yeah, Valentine's Day. Make fun of it all you want. I do like being born on that day. It was like my first gift to my parents. You know? No, you don't know. I can see it from the expression on your face. Right. On to other things. Like my name. Linus. It's pronounced LYE-nus. Repeat after me, LYE-nus. Good. It's of Greek origin and apparently means flax. Which is a plant. I'm named after a plant. As if my name couldn't get any worse, eh? Of course, my last name is Longbottom. It's not the best of last names. But hey, when your father is Neville Longbottom, you learn to live with it. My middle name is from my paternal grandfather who is an awesome Auror, or so they tell me. I believe it. You'd better too.
I'm in Hufflepuff. Like my mother. You know, sorting us into houses kind of just makes it harder to shake off all these misconceptions. Not every Hufflepuff is hardworking. Trust me, we've got some lazy ones over here. They're probably hardworking at trying to be hardworking. Anyway, I'm perfectly happy to be sorted into Hufflepuff. I don't fancy myself to be as brave or reckless as a Gryffindor, as smart as some Ravenclaws are and certainly not as cunning as Slytherins try to make themselves out to be.
My history? Well, my childhood wasn't all that bad. I have a younger sister. She's quite a character. I grew up in The Leaky Cauldron and if you've ever been there, you'll know that it's a bustling place. I'm never not entertained there. Drunk people who sing? The funniest thing ever to me. Drunk people who go around threatening others? Not so funny. Anyway. My childhood was good. The war was over and done with. My father, Neville Longbottom, became a Professor. Which isn't so fun when you turn up at Hogwarts and lack the Herbology skills that your father is known for. My mother is the owner of The Leaky Cauldron and yes, I'll be taking over from her. I like the idea of owning The Leaky. Plus, I think I have the skills to do so. Don't tell me it's not a good enough ambition. Hush!"
