It seemed not too long ago that Elijah had been at this exact spot, with nearly the whole school looking at him. That had been last week. Well, it was an unexpected way to start the entire school year. It certainly wasn't how he thought it would start. How exactly did he think it would go? Elijah hadn't thought about it. If Molly hadn't replied to his letters over the summer, what made him think she wanted to speak to him in person? But he had to give it a shot, right? He had to. The times he spent with Molly made him wonder if perhaps Delilah wasn't the one for him. And when he finally decided that he was in love with Molly, he had to go screw it up by sleeping with her. Oh, he didn't regret it. But Elijah was certain he could have done it better. Then again, he didn't know how Molly would have taken it if he broke it off with Delilah and then asked her out on a date.
What he hadn't counted on was Gavin. He didn't know if he should be mad at his friend. Elilah was quite certain he might have told Delilah about it all once he had spoken to Molly. So what Gavin did was just to speed things up a bit. In a very horrible manner. Elijah sighed, looking down at the rubik's cube in his hands. He had been fiddling with it the whole day and was nearly done. He'd repaired it for some younger year who heard that he could fix things. Well, if he could fix his own personal life, he would be feeling much better.
Right now, he was waiting for Molly. She would need to eat yes? Even if she ignored him at the entrance, they were in the same house. He would sit next to her during dinner. After all, people tended to give them a wide berth after what happened. Of course, there was a chance that Gavin and Delilah could pass by. The more the merrier. Elijah thought wryly as he turned the rubik's cube about, trying to complete it.

I’LL BE THE FAILURE IN YOUR BRAKES When Molly had gotten on the train for her final year at school, she never could have imagined just how destructive the first few days would be. Specifically the first night, before she’d even gone to sleep. Everything spiraled out of control. She hadn’t answered Elijah’s owls for a reason- she wanted the whole thing to blow over. She couldn’t admit to herself anything about her feelings for him. She’d rather suppress them and just let things have happened naturally than gotten all mixed up in everything and lost her best friend, her other half. But there he was, and he’d grabbed her and pulled her around the corner from the hall, tried to talk about what had happened. And then, in a split second, there was Gavin and Delilah. And a moment after that, the rest of the school. She didn’t even say a word, and everything fell apart around her. Delilah ran first, and Gavin after her. Standing there next to Elijah, their shame now on public display for the entire school, she couldn’t take it. She ran too. The past week had been torture. There was absolutely no torture like complete social excommunication. Everyone knew. She could hear them whisper as she walked by, and huddles all stared. There were those who kept quiet and simply talked about her behind her back when she wasn’t around, and there were those who had no trouble whispering about her when she stood merely feet away. But there were also those who made a point of brushing past her, refusing to sit near her, and even lashed out. On two separate occasions, she’d woken up to look in her mirror in the bathroom, the word “SLUT” written in dark red lipstick across her reflection. It was almost more than she could take. But Molly Weasley had always been the quiet one, the one to keep to herself, the one that tried not to let things bother her (even when they did rather horribly). So she cleaned the mess, and went about her day, keeping her head down, leaving her tears silent and for her pillow when she got in bed each night. She hadn’t had a conversation with anyone since it had happened. It was bizarre not to have anyone talk to you in casual passing, except to mutter cruel words, but it was completely out of the ordinary not to have Delilah. She talked to her every day, even over the summer. Earlier in the week, a knife had cut right through their strong ties. And she couldn’t think of talking to Elijah. Maybe in private, but she was petrified of people seeing the two of them together. Students were crass and rotten; she could only imagine the things that would be said about her if the pair were seen walking around the hallways together. She had to be selective about where and when she walked, when she showered, when she had her meals. It was drastic. She ducked into the Great Hall, much after most students had left. There were some scraps left on the plates at the Ravenclaw table, and she was relieved to see it was mostly empty. The entire hall was mostly empty. But that didn’t stop the little group of Gryffindor girls near the entrance to the hall from laughing as she entered. Molly tucked a loose strand of blonde hair behind her ear, and kept her head low, heading towards the Ravenclaw table. Her eyes bugged out a little as she looked up, however, because Elijah Macmillan was sitting at the near edge of the Ravenclaw table. She froze momentarily, but quickly turned on her heel and walked briskly towards the exit. She wasn’t even thinking, she was running on pure, silly, embarrassing Molly instinct. Tell you the truth I hate, What didn't kill me, it never made me stronger at all, [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] There was a number of emotions that ran throughout her, anger, disbelief, and most of all pain. Although really all she wanted to feel was nothing at all, at least for a little while, enough to really wrap her mind around what had happened over the last week. It certainly wasn't something that she'd been expecting, in fact Delilah hadn't ever thought that her best friend, someone who was practically a sister to her, slept with her then boyfriend. That not only had Molly not told her the truth, but neither did Elijah, she had to find it out through Gavin and find it out in front of pretty much everyone else who was a Hogwarts student. There were a number of questions that ran through Delilah's mind, why they hadn't said anything, why she was the only one who didn't know what had happened. How Molly and Elijah could do something like that, without even considering how it might have hurt her.
Clenching her fist, Delilah found herself biting down on her lip, no, she wouldn't think about this right now. She couldn't think about it, not without those ranging emotions throwing themselves out and at the next person who gave her that pathetic pitiful look she'd been getting all week long. And if it wasn't the pitiful look, than it was the whispers and hushed rumors that went around the halls of Hogwarts like wild fire, and sure some of her other friends had said to her that it would die over. That there would be some other sort of drama to go on between someone else and the attention of this matter would dissolve. Good. That was just what Delilah wanted, this whole thing to disappear, yet she was unsure if she wanted certain aspects of it to go back to how it used to be.
Delilah certainly wasn't ready to forgive herself, and she knew that wasn't about to change. shaking her head, she scolded herself for allowing her mind to remain on a topic Delilah didn't want to focus on. So, pushing some of the brunette hair from her face she moved herself down the halls of Hogwarts, moving towards the Great Hall for a last minute meal. She'd been going to most of the meals on the later side recently, it gave her a chance to avoid those she wasn't yet ready to see. Looking down to the ground for a moment, she sucked in a breath and moved into the hall, only to find herself colliding with someone else who seemed to be in a rush to get out of the hall. A soft "Omph."came from her and felt herself back step from the collision and looked up, about to apologize when she realized just who it was that she had bumped into. Persing her lips as she looked to the blonde, her hands moved into her jean pockets and shook her head, "Oh." was all she murmured before side stepping a bit.

There was a high chance that Gavin screwed up, but there was a higher chance that he was not going to admit to defeat. Sure, he might have just ruined one of his greatest friendships and broke the heart of the girl he loved, but it was all for the better. Right? He had no intention of letting the whole school know, but he knew Delilah would not believe him unless he actually showed her. Plus, no matter when she found out, things would have gone sour. Surely he would have also been yelled at for knowing what was happening between Elijah and Molly if he had not admitted to it. Any way it was served, Delilah would get hurt. Gavin had been aware of that, although now as he looked back at what he did, he probably should have gone to Elijah first. It was too late to change everything that happened though, now he had to live with the consequences. There were rumors floating around and now everyone in the school viewed Gavin as the bad guy who actually didn't care about his friends.
That was not true at all. He did care about them, although there was a good chance that none of them wanted to see his face. Which, on a logical level was understandable. But he had not heard any of their voices since the beginning of the year and he missed that. Even an insult would be nice. He forced himself to stay afar and watch the other three, which the others seemed to be doing as well. He sat through the dinner every night, from the very beginning and waited until he was close to the last person out. The other three seemed to just know when the others wouldn't be there. It was only awkward when Delilah noticed that Gavin was at the Slytherin table. But everyone was successfully managing at staying away from each other. At least during dinner. Gavin wondered if Elijah and Molly ever spoke to each other when they were in the Ravenclaw Common Room. He missed the nights where him and Delilah would stay up by the fire after dinner. That much he knew.
Tonight was different. Everyone was starting to file out of the Great Hall, and Gavin sat patiently towards the farthest end of the Slytherin table that was away from the door. He was watching Elijah fidget with a Rubik's Cube, while keeping his eyes on a door. It all happened quickly, first Molly walked in, noticed Elijah and turned around only to run smack into Delilah. He stood up instantly, ready to step in and go to Delilah's side. He moved swiftly over to the doors, standing on the opposite side of them as Elijah. Surely this was where they could begin to settle everything.

Elijah didn’t have to wait long for Molly to show up. He noticed her walking in, noticed the Gryffindor girls laugh as she walked by them. Elijah frowned, he didn’t like that. He didn’t like that Molly was the one taking the brunt of the whole situation they found themselves in. He was as much as at fault. But she was easier to get to, wasn’t she? Meek Molly. Dependable Molly. She shouldn’t have to go through this. She was headed towards him, but Elijah knew it was because he was at the Ravenclaw table and she hadn’t yet spotted him. No doubt once she did, she’d run away. Just as he thought that, Molly saw him. Her reaction was predictable and Elijah sighed. “Molly, wait!” He called out. They were going to have to talk some day, right? She couldn’t just ignore him from now on.
He got up, a jog in his steps as he followed her. Elijah knew he wanted to talk about this with her and try to figure out where things stood with them. He also knew he needed to talk to Delilah, but first on his list was Molly. What that said about him was quite clear. He put Molly first. Then Delilah. How exactly had Molly slipped into first place in his heart when he had been dating Delilah for so many years? He did catch up with Molly but not because he walked fast. It was because she’d bumped into Delilah on her way out. “Ah. Hello.” Elijah said, not quite sure what he should do at this moment. As if that wasn’t enough, Gavin showed up. “Okay.” He muttered, glancing at Gavin.
The Ravenclaw took a deep breath, before he started speaking. “May I suggest we go somewhere else, somewhere more private, to speak? Unless you know, we want a repeat of what happened last time we all stood here. And yes, we should all talk. Because I want to mend things with every single one of you.” Elijah said. “If it’s possible.” He added. He didn’t know if Delilah was in a forgiving mood. Or if Gavin was going to punch him for even talking to Delilah. Who knew Gavin had feelings for Delilah? While he had been falling for Molly, Gavin had fallen for Del. If he wasn’t involved in this, Elijah would have thought all this was too amusing.

I’LL BE THE FAILURE IN YOUR BRAKES She heard Elijah call out from behind her, but she didn’t freeze for a minute. All she could think about was the fastest way to get back to Ravenclaw Tower, to her dorm, and to her bed. Within the comfort of the curtains of her four-poster, no one could bother her or look at her, and she pretended they couldn’t even think about her either. Stopping to look back at Elijah would just give everyone in the hall the chance to start rumors about things that hadn’t happened, or had happened, but everything always got so blown out of proportion anyways. No, she had to press forward and eat another time. Maybe she could steal down to the kitchens later that night. Or just not eat. She’d truly lost her appetite. She wasn’t looking up, and she ran into something, colliding awkwardly. Thankfully, their heads were on different sides and they hadn’t broken each other’s noses. It had a head, so it must be a human. She took a step backward, mumbling an incoherent apology, and took a step to head on her way. By chance, though, she lifted her head and took a glimpse at the person whose path she’d blocked. Delilah Boot was standing in front of her, her hands now in her pockets, her lips sealed tightly together in a face she wasn’t used to receiving. And then things started to spiral out of control. Or, at least she started to get the feeling at the pit of her stomach that she did when Gavin had pulled Delilah over to her and Elijah at the start of term outside the hall. Those events had only taken place about thirty feet from where they stood now, and Molly certainly didn’t want a repeat of that, especially with all these people around (funny how the hall instantly felt much more full than it had previously). She just didn’t want a repeat at all. She didn’t want to go through it, and she didn’t want to go through it with her friends. If they were still her friends. She wasn’t really sure anymore. Gavin ran up and stood between them, but she could sense his ties with Delilah. It hadn’t really been that much of a mystery that Gavin had been attracted to her friend. She picked up on these things rather easily. It was always about Delilah. Delilah was the brave one, the loud one, the pretty one, the interesting one. The boys always went for her, the teachers always liked her. Molly wasn’t necessarily jealous, it was just the way things were. Then Elijah caught up with them, and he stood facing Gavin. There they were, in a stalemate, stuck, around a circle, girl-boy-girl-boy, best friends turned enemies, love lines all crisscrossed. Molly dared look up at Elijah, tucking a little hair behind her ear self-consciously. She was much too frightened to speak, and she certainly didn’t feel at liberty to do so. She was the one that had screwed up and ruined everything. Too afraid to start an apology, and too worried about the answer, she decided to let Elijah ride out whatever his proposal was, keeping her mouth shut and her head down, going with the flow until she had an opportunity, or desire, to talk. Tell you the truth I hate, What didn't kill me, it never made me stronger at all, [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Awkward, and tense would be the words that Delilah would use at the time as she found herself now with the three people that she was rather iffy with. The ex, the once best friend, and then the guy who had revealed the truth to her, and yet looking between Molly and Elijah, Delilah once more felt like she was a total dumby. Like she should have been the one to see it, yet out of the four, who she thought were all close, she was the one left out. Roughly biting the inside of her cheek, she looked back off to the side and slowly nodded to what Elijah had suggested. "Fine by me." |
[/color] Were the words she allowed herself to utter before feeling her hand fiddle with the ends of her hair, biting down on the inside of her cheek. Though really, she would have loved to make a snarky comment that went back to Molly and Elijah making a second announcement of sleeping together. However, she knew very well that making it would only make the situation worse and would even end up hurting herself more so than she was already hurting. It was the sort of situation that Delilah was sure she would have run to Molly about, maybe one of the boys but it was because of Molly, because of the hidden facts, that the four of them were even in this sort of situation in the first place. Even if she was still enraged with the situation, and really wasn't about to jump back on the friendship with them it didn't mean she was so pig headed that she wouldn't hear what had to be said. Giving a final glance over of the three she let herself lightly brush the back of Gavin's arm as she gave the sleeve of his shirt a tug, "Lets go find that space then,"[/color] Delilah said letting go of the sleeve before moving right back out of the crowded area and let her hand lightly come to wrap around her other arms elbow as she walked. Part of Delilah just wanted to get all of this out, all of the screaming or yelling or aggression or whatever it was that had been running throughout her, something which had been building the more she thought about everything and has the days had passed. So perhaps this confrontation that had come up, was something that could be considered good. Something which would send things on the road to mending, or for all Delilah knew, it would be something that only made things worse. The nice part about being the current school ass was that if he went the distance to punch Elijah in the face the majority of the students would think nothing of it. Or at least that was what he was hoping for because he had quite the desire to punch Elijah. The only problem was the fact that Elijah had been his best friend for so long; punching him might end up giving Gavin some guilt. Plus, if there was any mind he did care about, it was Delilah's and he already had enough points deducted from his chances of being with her. Anymore and he would be a dead man. Gavin kept hi ground as Elijah suggested going somewhere a bit more private. Yes, private, that sounded a lot better than Act 2 of all their drama on display.
"Well whatever you guys want," Gavin shrugged, stuffing his hands into his jeans' pockets. Delilah's hand on his sleeve sent chills down his spine. Unfortunately, that did not last long seeing as she let go to continue walking down the aisle. He followed after the girl, assuming the Ravenclaws would be right behind them. He was hoping more so that this little meeting would at least start to mend things. The last thing he needed was to finish school with no best friends and only an annoying twin sister.
They came towards the opposite end of the tables, Gavin sat promptly on the same side as Delilah. "Right, so, where would you like to start?" he looked Elijah in the eye. He was starting to go over how Elijah or Molly was going to explain what happened in the tower. He didn't believe Delilah would forgive Elijah easily, but maybe that was just his personality blinding him. He peeked a glimpse of Delilah from the corner of his eye. Since when was their lives' filled with so much drama?

He'd been the one to suggest going to somewhere private, but the truth was, Elijah didn't know the first thing to say to all of them. Well, he sort of knew what he wanted to say to Molly, but to Delilah and Gavin? He wasn't quite sure. 'I'm sorry for sleeping with Molly. I screwed up. Forgive me, please?” He didn't think their forgiveness came that easily. Delilah and Gavin agreed to go somewhere else, while Molly was just silent. Elijah thought of hugging her. He wanted to hug her and not let her go. He missed the times they spent together. The two of them as well as the four of them.
Elijah sighed mentally in his head, as he followed the two Slytherins. He looked at Molly, gesturing with his head for her to follow them. If she had her way, she might just run back to their common room and hide in her dorm forever. But Elijah wanted to settle things, so that he and Molly could be a couple. If that was even possible. When they were in a classroom, Elijah shut the door, before facing the two Slytherins. When Gavin asked where he'd like to start, Elijah glanced at him before looking over at Delilah.
“I know it wasn't right to lie to you or to put you through all of this. But Delilah, I swear, I didn't do it on purpose. I didn't specifically pick Molly to cause you this hurt. I was going to figure things out with her. I was going to talk to you about this. Before Gavin here decided that it would be better for the whole school to know before you did.” Elijah said, knowing that the last sentence probably didn't need to be said. Well, he couldn't help feeling a little upset that his best friend did that. There was a chance that Elijah might have had to suffer a little torment but not one as huge as this if Gavin hadn't brought Delilah out and confronted them.
