SKYLAR JOCELYN MCLAGGEN
INTRODUCTION
Full name: Skylar Jocelyn McLaggen
Nickname(s): Sky, but she really doesn’t like that nickname much.
Age: Sixteen
Gender: Demale
House: Gryffindor
Year: Sixth
APPEARANCE
Play By: Anna Kendrick
Style: Skylar dresses pretty typically. A good word to describe her wardrobe would be classic. She rarely follows trends, as she’s not very in tune with fashion. She used to be an intense tomboy, so she loves her t-shirts and comfy shorts, but now that she’s older she’ll wear nice tops and bottoms, sometimes a plain dress. Plain, very plain.
Distinguishing Marks: No tattoos or piercings, even her ears! Skylar has a couple notable scars on her arms and legs from different accidents in childhood.
PERSONALITY
Likes: Competitions, quidditch, comfortable clothing, reading, long walks
Dislikes: Losing, appearing weak, feet, high heels, lipstick.
Boggart: Death of her brothers
Patronus: Jaguar
Strengths: Self-confidence and Spirit
Weaknesses: Sociability and Tact
Personality: When introducing Skylar McLaggen, it is imperative to understand that her character is pure and intact. Skylar does not and will not change for anyone but herself. She doesn’t allow family, friends, boyfriends, teachers, or anyone to make her feel like the way she is is wrong. She has always been true to herself, confident in her appearance and demeanor.
Confidence is both Skylar’s greatest strength and worst fault. Her ability to carry herself without fear gives her the upper hand in many situations. However, her confidence borders on arrogance, and she can be too high-headed for her own good. This is especially dangerous because of Skylar’s lust for competition. Her confidence blinds her, and she’ll barrel into things (fights, dares, etc) without thinking. She is afraid of very little and this bravery is commendable, albeit rather stubborn.
Skylar can be very back and forth about what she takes to heart, as she doesn’t have a very well-developed sense of humor. What most people can make a joke out of and move on from, Skylar can hold on to. She holds grudges, and can be prone to argument. If you have her on your side though, at least for the time being, she’ll have no trouble helping you settle a problem that she’s not involved in. She means well, honestly! But Skylar has been known to unnecessarily involve herself in the affairds of others. Sometimes, she’ll bluntly confront someone, tell them off, and it will be settled. Other times, however, she’ll just make it worse.
Skylar is a blunt, brash person, and this can turn a lot of people off. Her people skills aren’t exactly the best, and she has a distinct lack of tact. Those who know her though, know there is a softer side to Skylar that very few people see. Growing up sandwiched in age by brothers, Skylar needed to be tough to keep up. But underneath her tough exterior is a girl with real fire, who is passionate in her own way. She has spirit, and can round up a group of people and get them excited about something. She puts herself out there. The passive side to Skylar is in her ability to spend a lot of time alone, and she needs this time to stay sane. She likes to read muggle sci-fi novels, and also enjoys films, both wizarding and muggle. She’ll take long walks just to think- this is the best way for her to process information. She’s never been the girl who likes to “talk it out” with her friends; she’d rather “think it out” on her own. This is why it’s hard for her to get close to people.

General History: Skylar Jocelyn McLaggen was born between two brothers, so to some extent, her childhood can be described by Quidditch, fights, mud, and quite a bit more danger than her mother would have liked. Skylar’s brothers remain her two best friends today, and most of the time, she feels they are the only people who really understand her. They know the “second Skylar” underneath her cool exterior and they are two of the only people that can successfully “tame” her, as she listens to few others. Throughout childhood, she looked up to both of them, despite one being younger, and wanted to be just like them. Because of this, she wore her hair short, and dressed like a tomboy.
Skylar is the person she is today because of her family and the environment they provided. Ever since her mother was bitten by Fenrir Greyback at the battle of Hogwarts, she had never been the same. Though she didn’t transform into a werewolf fully, she was still affected by the moon cycles and was often tired, irritable, and constantly frightened, suffering consistent, horrible anxiety attacks. Skylar’s father, who was naturally arrogant and tactless in nature (as he was known for during his own Hogwarts years), was the primary caretaker of the children. His personality rubbing off, lack of a motherly figure, and having brothers for siblings created who we know to be Skylar McLaggen.
There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that she would be a Gryffindor, following her father, mother, and brother’s footsteps (with the youngest to follow as well). At first, Skylar was perfectly miserable, much unlike other children at the school. She wasn’t good at making friends, her overly confident attitude being interpreted as cocky and annoying, even for her young age. She was very odd for a child, a girl who basically appeared and acted as a boy. Boys didn’t want to be friends with her because she was super weird and always tried to prove them wrong, and they didn’t like being shown up by a girl. Girls didn’t want to be friends with her because she was the biggest tomboy in the school and barely knew how to act like a proper female.
The only cure was time. By her third and fourth years, she’d made a couple steady friends with help from her brothers, but little could compare to the friendships she had with them. They did encourage her to try out for the Quidditch team, and she was delighted when she made it. Her fiery attitude translated perfectly to the position of beater. Her success on the team was an asset, and she met and befriended more people.
Everything changed the summer between her fourth and fifth year. Hitting puberty at full force, Skylar finally started to feel different. She wanted to be like the older girls at Hogwarts. She was starting to be interested in boys. She was finally growing out of her childhood and into the strong, confident woman that she had the potential to become. Her curves grew in, and she started wearing clothing that complimented them. She charmed her hair longer and started brushing it in the morning. Even her mother talked to her about the changes, and taught her how to use mascara. When she returned to school, few people even recognized her. She appeared completely different, and boys started to notice. She was, in short, a babe.
It was all very overwhelming, being thrown into the world of men with no experience and no idea how to be properly social. It was a good thing she finally made a couple friends. Even though she never asked them their opinion, girls loved to give their opinion on everything without being asked. It was easy to talk with boys, because she always had, but flirting was a different story. When Thaddeus Warrington, a beater for Slytherin, asked her on a date, she was so stunned that she accepted, and found she actually liked the kid. They started to date exclusively, and were together for most of fifth year. That was, until another boy came along. He was very interested in her, it seemed, and began to toy with Skylar’s emotions, making her feel like a queen. Lustful, inexperienced, and naïve, Skylar hooked up with the boy, who she thought she was developing feelings for.
Nothing’s a secret in Hogwarts. Thad soon found out, and the pair had a very public breakup. Despite not being official with the other boy, he was the only comfort that Skylar had, and she turned to him after Thad left her. But over the summer, the second boy left her as well, leaving Skylar alone. She’d never had a problem with being alone before, but she found that she hated it. She missed Thad, and Thad specifically. She was thinking about him all the time and in such a different way than she had previously. To her, this wasn’t just some fling. But Skylar isn’t very good at expressing herself, and she doesn’t really understand what love is- or does she? Now it’s the start of her sixth year, and she’s on a mission to win Thad back. Will she succeed? Or will the other boy, and even her own insecurities, get in the way?
