For the longest time, it seemed, BADDOCK and NOTT were the it-couple of Slytherin, even of the entire school. A romance that started at the end of their 5th year, they went strong until the summer just before their 7th year. NOTT started to feel like the pair were growing apart, and she wanted to be able to date and experiment with other people. Over the summer, NOTT broke up with BADDOCK, saying that she still wanted to be friends. The pair were too close to cut the other out completely. BADDOCK was broken up over it, but he pretended to bounce back like nothing horrible had happened. After all, he was the bad boy of the school.
No wonder the pair had broken up. NOTT, the quintessential, rich, arrogant Slytherin, was a material girl, driven by money and her own desires, growing up in the lap of luxury. With a father as head of the Wizengamot, she was a politician’s daughter, concerned with her images and connections and the latest gossip. BADDOCK stayed out of that realm. He was a poor kid from the country, driven by risk and the unusual. His father had died when he was younger, and his mother was a burnout, drug addict. He raised himself, to some extent. He had the reputation of a bad kid, who loved sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Deep down, he wanted someone who he could level with. Little did he know, he’d find it in the most surprising place…
PUCEY was the golden girl of her year, a perfect fifteen year old with good grades and a bright future. She always went with the grain, doing what she was supposed to, and for the most part, she liked it that way. More and more, however, she felt a void in her life, but she didn’t exactly know where it was coming from. Then, one faithful morning, she rounded a corner and slammed into the person that would change her life forever. She dropped her books all over BADDOCK.
She was petrified at first, but he was surprisingly kind to her. His reputation garnered that he would lash out and bite her, but when he helped her pick up her things and the two got to talking, PUCEY felt surprisingly comfortable. So did BADDOCK. He didn’t feel the need to let his reputation do the talking for him. In the five minutes he spent with PUCEY, he was baffled by her. He needed to see her again.
The pair started running into each other everywhere, having very brief, but interesting conversations at almost any juncture: on the way to class, on the grounds, outside the prefect’s common room, in the Great Hall. Both students were captivated by the other, but only ever spoke briefly, as they were each whisked away by their own social groups rather quickly after running into one another. BADDOCK ran with party-hardy Slytherins who liked to do dangerous and stupid things for fun, and PUCEY’s crowd was a prim and proper group of girly-girls who loved to stare at the boys on the glorified Gryffindor quidditch team and play with their pearls. They couldn’t be interested in the other. They just couldn’t.
NOTT, still keeping an eye on her ex, seemed to be the only person who noticed the interactions between the prefect and the older Slytherin. She wasn’t blind to how BADDOCK would stare across the Great Hall at PUCEY. NOTT can’t believe that BADDOCK seems to already be over her…and interested in a fifth year Hufflepuff?! Jealousy rose up within her, and she’s determined to win BADDOCK back, even if only to prove that she’s better than PUCEY.
What will transpire? Will BADDOCK and PUCEY actually spend time together, instead of wondering about each other from a distance? Will NOTT get involved? If she does, what will BADDOCK do?
