Alessandra had just finished her last lesson of the day. First years and last lesson of the day didn't add up to a very enjoyable experience. No matter what year they were in, students didn't pay much attention if it was their last lesson. Which was why Alessandra liked to shock them with a loud horn whenever she entered the classroom. To keep them awake. Or threaten to let her pet snake out of the glass container. Perhaps she had threatened them too many times. Aless noticed that her office door was unlocked and when she swung the door open, the huge glass container where Silver was supposed to be was empty.
The blonde muttered some curse words in Italian before she took out her wand and cast a spell on the floor. Having a pet snake in a castle full of students was not very ideal but Aless had taken precautions. She'd put a tracking spell on Silver, just so she could track the snake if he ever got out of his container. For the most part, Silver was content to stay in his container with food given to him. Aless let him slither about her office once every week so that he didn't become a huge useless snake who couldn't attack to save his own life.
The floor lit up with a glowing lavender trail and the blonde followed them. She was thinking of how a student could break the spells on her office. Then she wondered if she locked her office. Of course she did. Alessandra cursed again, as she followed the trail. She only hoped no students saw Silver and tried to attack it. She wasn't so much concerned about the students, because Silver wasn't poisonous. She was much more concerned about her having to get rid of him. Some would say she didn't have her priorities right.
The trail led to an office, one that Aless passed by plenty of times but didn't go in. It belonged to the new History of Magic Professor if she wasn't wrong. Well, she hoped no one was inside. Her hopes were dashed rather quickly when she heard a dog barking. Alessandra pushed the door open and saw that Silver was in an attack position, hissing rather loudly at the dog who was in front of the new Professor. Not the best way to make a first impression. She thought. A whip extended from her wand, and she hit it against the floor, to get Silver's attention. The snake turned, recongising his owner and slithered towards her, coiling up at her legs. “Snakes.” Alessandra said, smiling faintly at the brunette as if this happened every other day.

[atrb=width,400] fallon azalee zabini Fallon had been having a great day. No, not everyone had been paying attention to her lesson. She couldn't get everyone to pay attention, but at least she was better than Professor Binns had been when she'd been in school. She tried to make her classes fun, but was close to giving up on it, even though it was only October. But her last class of fifth years had finished for the day, and she was cleaning up the mess they'd left. She was always cleaning up broken quills and papers left behind, notes about the class and notes to each other. It always brought back memories of when she wrote notes in her History of Magic classes back in Hogwarts. "Cobi, I think I need some better way of teaching," she said to her dog, who was on the other side of the room picking up quills off the floor. He didn't like it when she did a lot of work herself.
Fallon had been distracted by a note taped under the desk, but quickly forgot about it when Cobi started barking and growling. What on Earth was causing her dog to freak out like that? She ran around the desks towards her puppy only to find an albino snake in attack position, which was being mimicked slightly by her dog, whose fur was up on end. He was not happy to have such a big snake potentially threatening his master. "Cobi! Cobi no, down!" she said, not wanting the snake to attack not only her, but especially not her dog. The dog was not listening though, and she tried to tug on his collar. "Cobi! Down boy, down!" Fallon called, wondering why there was a snake in her office to begin with. She didn't have a problem with snakes, she was a Slytherin after all, but she didn't want Cobi like this.
Fallon hadn't noticed the purple trail appear behind the snake, nor did she notice another professor rush into her classroom after it, since she was trying to keep Cobi and the white snake at bay. After a whip was cracked Fallon looked up at the blonde standing in her doorway, the snake going towards his master. "Cobi, down. Now," she said, very commanding, and the dog finally calmed himself, and went to stand by his master's feet, watching the woman and snake carefully, making sure nothing was going to come at his girl. Fallon shook her head, patting the dog. "Ah yes, snakes. Perhaps, Professor, you should keep a better watch on it? I would hate to see either of our pets take a fall for careless mistakes," she said, watching the woman. "I'm Professor Fallon Zabini, by the way, new History of Magic teacher. I'm afraid we haven't met yet, and you are?" she asked, extending her hand, wondering if this woman was going to be friendly or not.

Alessandra got her wand back to its normal looking self, before casting a protective bubble around Silver and letting the snake float beside her. The snake looked peaceful and calm inside the bubble; Aless might say it looked amusing, but she didn't think her fellow Professor and her dog agreed with her. Alessandra was sure the woman meant well when she said she hated to see either of their pets get hurt by a careless mistake. Meaning she had made one. Aless blacked out the bubble with a swish of her wand, hiding her pet from sight. “I suppose threatening students who sleep in my class that I would feed them to my pet wasn't such a good idea if they decide to break into my office and let loose a gigantic snake.” Alessandra said. If the woman said she shouldn't be keeping a snake as a pet, Aless might have to set the snake loose on them both. Or not.
The blonde walked forward and shook the extended hand, smiling as she did so. “Alessandra Insana, Charms.” Alessandra always liked to see how people reacted to her last name, if they reacted at all. She wondered how they would react if they knew her parents were related. Distantly, but still related. “Zabini. I remember a couple of Zabinis. Slytherin, a few years younger?” Aless asked her. To say that she had lost contact with most of her classmates would be an understatement. She didn't keep in contact with those she didn't deem useful to her. Sure, there were several she remained friends with because they were actually her friends. But most of them, Alessa had to work to tolerate.
“I apologise for Silver here. He's normally quite docile.” But Alessandra didn't know how many people saw a snake and thought it was docile. Not many, she assumed. “I'm sure he didn't mean to scare your dog and you. But I have to say, your dog is one protective pet.” The blonde meant that as a compliment. “I can't say Silver here would protect me if a Hippogriff came running at me at full speed.” Alessandra shrugged as if that really didn't matter to her at all.

[atrb=width,400] fallon azalee zabini Fallon watched as the woman placed the snake in a bubble that twirled around her. Fallon did have to admit it was a neat trick, and it kept the snake away from Cobi, which was a-okay with her. "You know students. They warned to stay away from things but in the end, they love seeing what buttons they can push, their safety be damned," Fallon said as the snake disappeared from sight. She smirked a little, and bent down to pet Cobi, tugging on his collar and sending him back to help clean up the room. "How long have you had.. ah, the snake?" she asked, realizing that she didn't know his name to call him by such.
Fallon shook Alessandra's hand and considered her name. She recognized the name from school. Aless was only about two years ahead of her and her brother two behind her. "Ah yes, I'm the eldest Zabini child. You probably tought my brother last year and my sister is only sixteen," she said, then added, "I'm twenty three. I graduated two years behind you if I do recall." Fallon and Alessandra probably would have been in the same crowd back in Hogwarts if Fallon had actually hung out with people who weren't only her age, or if she hadn't been the type to feel threatened, which she definitely would have considering how pretty Alessandra is. She wished she'd been a better person at Hogwarts.
So Silver was his name. "If I was afraid of snakes it would be a bad thing to have been in Slytherin. I do suppose Cobi might be afraid of them, but cares more about my safety," she said, wondering if she should offer out drinks or something. She smiled. "Oh well Cobi is quite protective of me. I got him towards the end of my cancer treatment, sort of as a reward to myself for overcoming the cancer," she said, as Cobi made his way back to her side, his job done. She absentmindedly pet the top of his head. tag: Alessandra word count: a lot outfit: here notes: what a great first impression |

“I like to think we have some vaguely intelligent ones here who tried to talk their peers out of releasing my snake.” Alessandra replied. She was sure they had some smart students in this school. If not, why were they even trying to teach them? Aless quirked a smile when asked how long she had her pet. “Since he was a tiny little thing.” She replied. Silver was pretty huge now. “Since I was twenty, probably.” Aless said, as if she didn’t really recall. It was her birthday gift to herself, so she did remember exactly when she got Silver. But who bought themselves a pet snake for a birthday present? Not many people.
“Yes, I did have some Zabinis in my classes. And another Insana who drove me up the wall, but we’ll not talk about him.” Alessandra said, grimacing somewhat at her own mention of her brother. Fallon didn’t seem to have much reaction to her last name and Alessandra found that she liked that. “Ah, school. Who’d have thought we would be back here so soon?” Aless asked her. The blonde certainly didn’t expect herself to be teaching. She would have been content to stay at the Ministry. If only he hadn’t proposed. Perhaps it was her own fault for not seeing how serious they had been getting.
“It would have been. Not that we have had many snakes in our common room.” Aless pointed out. “Yes, dogs. Loyal and protective creatures.” The blonde said, looking at the dog as it came back towards them both. Her eyes shifted from the dog to Fallon when she mentioned cancer. “What sort of cancer?” She asked, just a tad surprised. She always thought of cancer as being a Muggle thing. Sure, there might have been wizards and witches who had gotten cancer, but for the most part, Alessandra had not met any of them. “And you’re so young. Kind of just heightens the fragility of life, doesn’t it?” Aless said, thinking of her father.
