WE LOST OURSELVES IN THE BRIGHT LIGHTS The last days of summer had flown by, sparing no lasting second or elongated moment. Roxanne wasn’t complaining. As much as she loved having free time, she missed her friends, and the excitement of the castle. It was a terrible cycle, because a couple weeks after she was back, she begged to leave again, the cyclic ways of school proving to be too stringent for her. She preferred to just do what pleased her when it pleased her, instead of stick to such a serious schedule. If she didn’t have Quidditch commentary almost every weekend she didn’t know what she would do! Well, she’d survive. It wasn’t unbearable, just obnoxious. Her friends helped keep her in check. She would miss the Burrow, though. Grandma Molly and Grandpa Arthur’s great dilapidated house was home to almost everyone in their family. They could pop in whenever they liked and stay as long as they wished, and Roxanne would often come in and out when she could, spending however long she wanted to (meaning when she had off work from the joke shop). She liked the general splendor of the place, and also how her cousins would just appear and disappear just like bees flying around in the garden. Even though she saw the cousins that were her age around Hogwarts all the time, she rarely saw her older cousins and other relatives, so it was nice to have the summer holidays, filled with family get-togethers, to catch up with them. Roxanne was spending her last couple days of freedom away from Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and in the surprisingly peaceful environment of the Burrow. The rest of her cousins were scrambling to get their school things together, but she, in typical Roxanne fashion, had gotten overexcited and did her school shopping weeks in advance. For now, with nothing else to do, she was content to simply sit cross-legged on the front porch steps of the Burrow, her guitar in her lap, strumming away lazily at it, soft, broken melodies coming from its strings. She could smell something brewing in the kitchen, and noted the sun as it started its descent down the western sky. Grandma Molly was making something delicious for dinner, and Roxy was sure she wouldn’t have to wait long for it. Just the whole Weasley Potter branch, hell there were even times when the Krum members decided to show up around the Burrow and then the numbers would increase even more so. Perhaps that was the reason why Dominique had found her way back towards the second home, it was never far from where she was, or at least that was what she often thought. Of course it helped that she could appear and disappear just about anytime, anywhere that she wanted. So as she shut her light blue eyes shut, concentrating on where she wanted to be, she felt a power surge within her and a dizzy sensation crawling through her before it all stopped.
Reopening her eyes as a loud snap could be heard around here she appeared a few feet from the front of the house, blinking a couple of times before grinning at the sight of one of the red headed females of the Weasley clan. It was in fact her younger cousin Roxanne, probably the favored cousin out of all of them, if Dominique was allowed to have one. Roxy was always more of a younger sister than she was a cousin, and Dominique could easily say that she found herself just as protective of Roxy as she was of her own blood siblings. "Seems like I'm not the only one who wanted to spend supper here, or perhaps that last few days of your break?" Dominique greeted as she walked towards the younger Weasley.
"What brings you around these parts?" Dominique then questioned as she easily plopped herself down next to Roxy and looked to the guitar that the other held. "Got yourself any new tunes?" Dominique questioned with a smile as she lightly brushed a finger over one of the strings of the guitar. WE LOST OURSELVES IN THE BRIGHT LIGHTS She hadn’t felt this peaceful in a very long time, and, despite her usual restlessness and inability to sit still or stay quiet, Roxanne was truly enjoying it. Having a few moments of peace where the sun is soaking into your skin and the silence is broken only by the lovely noises of nature, like chirping evening birds and swishing wheat plants, can be rare to achieve. A small smile appeared on Roxanne’s face, the left side of her lips curving up in content. She shut her eyes lightly and leaned back against the column at the side of the stairs, tugging her ankles a little tighter towards herself, securing how they were crossed. As soon as she opened her eyes, she heard a small pop, and Dominique was walking towards her down the bendy lane that lead to the burrow. Roxy’s eyes lit up, and she raised a hand in waving, squirming a little where she sat, her moment of peace locked up in her mind, but decidedly over in favor of a little time with her favorite cousin. Dom wasn’t really like her cousin, though. She thought of her more like the older sister that she never had. Dom gave her advice on everything she needed, and Roxanne definitely looked to her as an example on how to carry herself. On many occasions, Roxy would think to herself ‘what would Dom do?’. Usually, that helped get her out of sticky situations. If not, Dom would be there to help her pick up the pieces and not feel like a total loser. “They sure are flying by,” Roxanne said, grinning as her cousin sat down next to her. “Mum wasn’t making anything for dinner and Dad’s still closing up the shop, so I decided to come here and see what Grandma Molly was making,” As she finished, she looked around the corner of the porch, trying to peek into the kitchen to get a glimpse of what was being prepared for supper. “Lobster and shrimp, I think?” Roxanne readjusted the guitar in her lap, letting her fingers glide over the frets on the neck, her other hand strumming away at the strings. “Nothing legendary,” she laughed, moving her hands a bit so Dominique could pluck away listlessly as she pleased. “How’re you? I feel like I haven’t talked to you in ages!”TAGS: Dominique Weasley WORDS: 393 OUTFIT: CLICK!NOTES: - - I WISH YOU COULD HAVE SEEN US template by eliza @ shadowplay

[atrb=border,0,bTable]god's not gonna help you, son.[style=width: 400px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 10px; padding: 10 0; margin: 0 0 4 0; text-align: justify; border-top: 6px solid white; border-bottom: 6px solid white;]Whenever she thought of those good memories from the past, the vast majority of them probably had to be with Roxy. Sure, there was that two year age gap but it was never something that made the two drift apart or disconnect, and maybe that was because Dominique made a point of remaining in Roxy's life. She wasn't just a cousin to her, Roxy was the younger sister that Dominique had always asked for when she was younger. And sure, she ended up getting the younger sibling, it just turned out to be a younger brother, and not a sister. Not that she loved Louis any less, it was just different from having a younger sister, so when she and Roxy became close enough, she was very happy. "Oh man. You're going to be a sixth year, thats crazy," as if to add emphasis on it, she let out a low whistle for a few seconds before grinning and shaking her head. "Almost done with your years at Hogwarts." It was a crazy thought, especially since Dominique could still freshly picture the two of them when they were younger running around and playing tag. Or doing whatever they could to annoy the other cousins.
A stomach growl could be heard when Dominique heard would Grandmother Molly was preparing for dinner, oh yes, Dominique had definitely picked a good day to stop by the grandparents house. "Ahh, one of my favorite dishes." she commented before nodding to what Roxy had given as her reason for being here, "How are your parents doing these days?" She felt she might as well make sure everything was fine, seeing as the last time Dominique had seen the parents were probably at the last family gathering earlier than summer. "Shop still got a ton of business?"
Pausing a moment to think over the question, Dominique slowly shrugged. "It does feel like its been a while since we last spoke, but nothing all that new is going on for me. Work, Pip, some hanging out with friends." Yep, that sounded about right to her, she figured at least for right then and there she would hold back on the fact that she might just be crushing on one of those friends. "But what about you? How have you been since we last saw each other? Anything I need to worry about?" WE LOST OURSELVES IN THE BRIGHT LIGHTS “I know,” Roxy started, moving her guitar out of her lap and propping it up around the corner on the porch. “It’s crazy how time flies by. And Fred’s a seventh year. Next year he won’t even be at Hogwarts!” She shook her head a little, squeezing her eyes shut, letting the information process into her brain. It really was unbelievable how quickly time had passed. It felt like last week she was sorted into Gryffindor, and a couple days ago that she’d started her extracurricular classes, and just yesterday that she’d done her first quidditch commentary, and now she was a sixth year! Time didn’t stop for anyone or anything. Roxy didn’t have many regrets about her time at Hogwarts. She had great friends and great times with those friends. She was starting to come out of her somewhat naïve shell and go to some parties and live a little more, too. Roxy uncrossed her legs and bent them so that she was hugging her knees, resting her chin on one of them as she answered Dom’s next question. “They’re alright! Dad’s great, as usual, throwing everything he’s got into the shop. He just hired a couple new part-timers for the school year, so he’s got loads of time for inventing and prototyping and all the stuff that he really loves. Mum’s helping out where she can. She’s busying herself redoing our apartments. She’s also been trying to convince Dad to buy a vacation home somewhere warm, an idea I am in complete support of!” What wasn’t to love about the idea of a beach-side home off the coast of Barbados? And Roxanne would officially be able to take her apparition test this year. Portkeys would be a thing of the past! Dom sounded like she had a perfectly pleasant life outside of Hogwarts, which was the last thing Roxy had expected for her when Dom told her she was training to be a hit-witch for the ministry. But she had an apartment, an adorable little puppy, and even a great group of friends, some of whom Roxy had been fortunate enough to meet and know during their years at Hogwarts together. “How’s Sloper?” Roxy asked, inquiring about Dom’s best friend. Dom always mentioned her here or there when Roxy asked. Last Roxanne knew, she was dating a boy who’d been in Gryffindor, in Dom’s year. Tyler something? Roxanne laughed a little, as it was perfectly normal to wonder if she was getting herself into any trouble. “I don’t think so?” Roxanne considered, trying to think of anything interesting and new that was going on in her life. “I’m sure I’ll have more to report once the school year gets started. Hogwarts never fails to provide endless entertainment and useless drama.” She rolled her eyes, laughing a little at the thought of everything her dorm mates would have to report about their summers. Many of them had done quite a bit of travelling, if they’d stuck to their plans. Roxanne couldn’t wait to hear about those sorts of adventures. “I’m still…typical me!” She grinned. [atrb=border,0,bTable]god's not gonna help you, son.[style=width: 400px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 10px; padding: 10 0; margin: 0 0 4 0; text-align: justify; border-top: 6px solid white; border-bottom: 6px solid white;]The mere thought that little Fred was already making his way into his seventh year was something that sent chills down her spine. No way was her little cousin going to be a seventh year, and her sister going to be a sixth. The time simply went by way too fast, much faster than Dominique would really care to admit. "Well, lets hope that he manages to stick to his studies, and get out of there with some of the top scores." commenting as she pushed some of the blonde strands of hair from her features. Carefully looking over the older Roxy, and had to admit, she was definitely growing into a pretty, intelligent young lady, which of course meant that Dominique would have to be weary of those approaching boys.
A smile etched its way onto Dominique's features as she listened to Roxanne go on about the different ventures that each of her parents seemed to be going on about. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of wonderful invention her Uncle would come up with next when it came to his store, and the idea of having some nice place to vacation definitely sounded nice. "Mmm.. Well, when your mother does find that place, because she totally will, let me know. I'll find an excuse to go and crash there and drag you along with me," Yes, this right here was already decided as far as Dominique was concerned, even if that meant kidnapping Roxy and taking her away for what could be considered a long weekend from Hogwarts.
"Ahhh Sloper..." That was a heavy question right there, considering the current events that were happening within her roommate's world. She was either angry or upset with TJ and the way that he chose to act or really, didn't act as it seemed. But really, Dominique knew...well, at least hoped that this whole thing would end up blowing over just like all the other tiffs of theirs had. "Well..." Dominique started slowly, biting her lower lip as she tried to figure out the right words to describe how her best friend was, "She's definitely being Sloper," that seemed like a decent enough explanation.
Nodding a bit, Dominique couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the reminder of her own Hogwarts days, she knew well enough the fiascos that went on within those walls. "Ugh. Sounds like nothing has really changed." The sorts of rumors and dramas that would occur because of one seemingly simple thing or another. It was one of the reasons why Dominique was happy to be out of the school. "Well, I certainly wouldn't want you to be anyone but the wonderful Roxy that you are." And that was true, Dominique would always want Roxy to stay the way that she was, and hoped that there would never be anything, let alone anyone, that would go and change the sweet girl. Though, Dominique also knew that even if there were changes, unless truly for the worst, she would always love the younger cousin, sister, that was Roxanne Weasley.
